Spanish City is in Whitley Bay (UK) and was a place where tourist would flock too. It has the most beautiful beaches but unfortunately there has been a decline in the urban side – however, saying that there is apparently a commitment for regeneration. What makes me sad is that we allow things to fall into this kind of disrepair in the first place – beautiful places like this are blighted by closed down hotels, pubs, amusement parks and cafes. This is part of my college project.

I’m in Florida while my husband is attending a conference. I take this free time as quality time with my camera. Our hotel consists of two buildings, each standing swimming pools and tennis courts apart. I start by standing in my balcony and taking a picture of the second hotel building, I get a close up making the picture abstract and tilt the camera a bit to create interest. It’s one of those simple shots, one of those obvious shots that people simply overlook. This is also one of my favorite type of photographs, I love the abstraction. /

I so should not have been where is was sitting to get this photograph of Lands End, UK. Within seconds of this shot being taken I was covered in spray and the grass became quite slippery around me. I did sit there for quite some time marveling at the power of the ocean, it was hypnotic. Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 70mm, f/9, 1/640 sec, ISO 250. No filters used and hand held. A small amount of dust and scratches removed in photoshop. A contrast map and hue deference in photoshop. This is the second shot in my Notre Dame series. This time, the front of the incredibly detailed cathedral, found in Paris, capital city of France. Citadel shows the rear of the building. This is another piece that basically created itself. I wanted a black and white, textured finish, the piece had other ideas and went for something more mystical and magical. Texture used from ‘struckdumb’ free use stock, on www.deviantart.com. Layered texture seven times, altered hue and colour levels on each to be different shades and colours.
