I felt like uploading a picture of my hometown… I live in Sydney and do miss it a lot sometimes. I try to go back every 6 months (going there tomorrow actually yay!). Changed the name of it after Jason Moses’ comment :)

The Paris Blues was captured whilst on a weekend away for my best mates 21st birthday. I love Paris, it’s an amazing city! I first added a black and white effect, then warmed the image, then cooled it with another function. There is slight adjustment of highlights, contrast, sharpness and light fill.

I used to do lots of pen and ink work and then I started doing colourful “bendy” buildings. Pen and ink takes me longer (much longer sometimes) than colour work, but I thought it was time I did another. I took a chance and drew one of my favourite Paris views … but I used a subtle form of my “bendy buildings” style for a lot of the picture. PLEASE NOTE: THIS LOOKS BETTER ENLARGED. This is actually the side of a circular building in La Defense, Paris. You can just see the security camera/lights at the top. I was hoping it would be lit up at night, but unless they weren’t working, when I got there later that night, it was all in darkness… Many thanks to the Shapes and Patterns group for the feature (September 2009). This is a corridor of The Louvre, Paris. The Louvre is the largest museum in France and the most visited in the world. It is also the home of the Mona Lisa, arguably Da Vinci’s most famous and mysterious work. The Louvre was build in the 12th Century and initially qas a fortress for Philip II. 400 years later it became a display house of Louis XIV, and in 1793, was opened for it’s first exhibition. It was closed again until 1801 due to structural damage, when it reopened. Today the Louvre houses over 380,000 pieces of art, across 8 departments. I spent 4 hours in there and only got to see 1/8 of the entire building. Two textures added to this one and a slight adjustment of colour and contrast to make it look like an old photo of an aristocratic past. Slight crop also, to take out the tops of the many visitors heads that were in frame. Sacre Coeur, Paris. The amazingly original basilica is located in Montmartre, leading to the highest point of Paris city. First constructed in 1875, it was not completed until 1914, due to a problematic law system that almost stopped construction entirely. Only saved by a loophole, construction finally continued to the end. I didn’t get to spend as much time here as I would normally like to, but the climb to the top of the tower was worth it for the incredible view of the city below. Original shot layered twice, with 3 textures, colour altering of each layer, blending of layers, further colour altering and an omni light effect. I decided to turn a few of the pics I had published (see here) into pieces for the folio. This is the rear view of Notre Dame, Paris, capital of France. This cathedral resembles a neo gothic castle from this view. I wanted to give this one a historic look, but it has taken on a more fairy tale appearance. I love it when the piece takes over and creates itself! Textures from www.deviantart.com free use stock. This is the second shot in my Notre Dame series. This time, the front of the incredibly detailed cathedral, found in Paris, capital city of France. Citadel shows the rear of the building. This is another piece that basically created itself. I wanted a black and white, textured finish, the piece had other ideas and went for something more mystical and magical. Texture used from ‘struckdumb’ free use stock, on www.deviantart.com. Layered texture seven times, altered hue and colour levels on each to be different shades and colours. Notre Dame, Paris, captial city of France. The last in my Notre Dame series. I created six versions of this shot, trying different textures, colours and layers, but this was the first one that moved toward a theme or emotion that I wanted. It feels quite lonely and stripped of hope to me, but I’m sure it will have varied meaning to the individual. 8 layers of texture from www.deviantart.com free use stock – Amurrr.
