  • Landscape of the Lord St. Malo outside of Estes Park, Colorado. One of thee most photographed Churches in all of North America, I was VERY excited and VERY anxious to get this shot when I headed up to Rocky Mountain National Park. I was hoping that the weather would clear because behind this, covered in the clouds, is Mt. Meeker and it is just a stunning view with the mountains! I have to admit though, I am really happy how this came out. And if anything, it is quite unique compared to how it is usually shot. I suppose that is a good thing when it comes to photographing something that is such an icon. Generally, people walk down by the pond and shoot from there, I stayed up top on the side of the road, thus giving a different perspective than most. Also, the weather. It was dramatic as all heck! You could smell the rain as it came in, dark, but with so much drama in the sky. I was pretty lucky to get a shot like this. Ya, I am happy with it! • Como, Colorado is a place which stands in time….it is also a favorite place of mine to shoot at. It is a place where time stands still, where the buildings still echo 1865. Long forgotten it still has a few habitants. Founded in 1859, it is a town which came about during the Pikes Peak Gold Rush. There is quite an interesting site here which shows the town during it’s heyday. I really wanted an image that represented something between the meaning of the word “memory” yet also portrayed the word “Ghost Town” at the same time. This is the end result. Thoughts welcomed! / —John / —-—-—-—-—-—-—— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. • In Memoriam

    US$4.28–US$114.00

Shot Thoughts & Background Info—- Fairmont Cemetery in Denver is one of my all time favorite places to shoot at, especially during the Autumn months. It is quite old with headstones dating to when Denver was barely even a city. Quite massive in size, many of the structures contained within it are fascinating examples of architectural style. For this shot, I really wanted something different, so when I was shooting it I made sure to use my Minolta 18-200 DT lens so I could go ultra wide and capture as much as I could I had an idea already in my head for the post work, and for the most part I think it works as I had planned. I really wanted something moody, heavy on the atmosphere, that provoked thought in people when they saw it. Something that made them stop and think for a second. HDR Processed. • Lübeck, Germany
    by Lenka

    US$5.70–US$152.00

Hanseatic City of Lübeck, ‘Gate to the Baltic’ founded in 1143 and declared a city as early as 1226, was Germany’s second largest medieval city. It was declared a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in 1987. Its Old Town with approximately 1800 listed buildings is a true paradise (not only) for a photographer. You can see the world-famous Holstentor (Holsten Gate), Lübeck’s landmark, in the background of the photograph.

  • Wawatam Lighthouse at the entrance to the Marina in St. Ignace in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It stands at the end of an old railroad dock which was once used to load railroad cars onto a ferry to transport them between the Upper and Lower Peninsulas of Michigan. The city of St. Ignace has renamed he lighthouse after the 338-foot Chief Wawatam rail car ferry. It rises 52 feet in the air at the end of a newly constructed Huron Boardwalk and serves as a sentinel to the city’s marina. The beacon projects 13.2 miles over Lake Huron and will serve as a navigational aid to boaters. This lighthouse was acquired from the Monroe Michigan Welcome Center in 2004, was moved to St. Ignace in five sections, and went operational on August 20th, 2006.

  • ‘We, Henry the King by the divine blessing, declare to the knowledge of all, that we have donated to our servant Otnant a part of forest along the way to Cheb.’ / —Henry IV, February 13th, 1061 This first written reference to the town Cheb from the year 1061 is, at the same time, also the oldest documentation of the advancing medieval colonisation of the territory around Cheb in the extreme western Czech Republic near the German border. The historical region of Cheb has been part of the Holy Roman Empire. Cheb is one of the oldest towns in Bohemia, with a history full of violence for it guards the easiest approach to Bohemia from the northwest. However, the picturesque old town retains much of its historic gothic and renaissance architecture dated from 9th century till today. And despite its relatively small size, 35,000, and a rather remote geographical location, the city of Cheb is today one of the Czech Republic’s most multicultural cities. Framed Print / /
