In this picture I was drawn to the spaces in the walls. I could not explain why or anything except that when I stood inside the broch and looked up I was humbled by the immense structure which encircled me and my eyes were drawn across to the 16 spaces in the frame. I hope you like it too. / Built in the Iron Age period this is Mousa Broch which stands alone on the small uninhabited island of Mousa in the Shetland Islands, Britains most northerly area. This is the best preserved broch in Europe and stands a full 13 metres tall. Awe inspiring history we can touch.

St. Francis of Assisi in Santa Fe Sitting in the center of the town square in Santa Fe, New Mexico stands the St. Francis of Assisi Church. Built between the years of 1869-1886, it sits on an earlier site of a church built in 1626. This was a REALLY hard shotto pull off as the town center square is filled with people so I had to act quickly. I fired off 3 brackets handheld for the HDR and metered at the bricks on teh church…hoping this was going to work….I think it did. Thoughts most welcomed! / —John http://www.redbubble.com/products/configure/2720872

Another of the many castles around here. Perhaps one good thing which came from man’s war-like nature is that it left us some picturesque defensive structures. Watercolour about 12” x 16”.

Melbourne Mural / The store was built in 1853 and named Dimelow and Gaylard before the colloquial name was adopted in 1904. That building was destroyed by fire in 1907 and the existing structure was designed by Melbourne architects H. W. & F. B. Tompkins. The clock tower was erected in 1910 and the building’s name changed again to Dimmeys Model Stores to reflect its high fashion status in working-class Richmond. In 2004, artist Hayden Dewar was commissioned to paint a series of murals representing the history of the store and Victoria along the Green Street facade.
