acrylic on canvas / slightly altered in ps this piece was not so easy to do, i had to dig into my mind, into parts shut off shut down blocked off but always there… / this is a glimpse into how i came to be who i am today. Theres a story to this / based on true events / tho i’ve never understood it / it has never made sense / how one who was given all of my trust / all of my love and all of my lust / crushed it and twisted me / til there was nothing much left / broken and bruised / and living regret / These were my dark days / my youth mispent / when my heart belonged to a monster / and my shattered soul wept / Years went by in this madness / why i cannot say / but this event depicted here / was the beginning of the end of my dark days / he tried to put out the light that i am / he attempted to end it all / but that fate was not the fate meant for me / and somehow i survived the fall Domestic abuse happens everywhere, both in seen and unseen places, / it isnt somethin only depicted on tv, its real and its happening. / and not just to those you’ll never meet / one day it mite happen to you / or someone you love / one way we can help fight this injustice / is awareness, education, resources and aide for those in need. / Intolerance of abuse against women, children, even some men…, of any nature, is needed to break the cycles of abuse and neglect. / We need more Resources. The human race needs Help. / Help make the world we’re in a better place / we’ve only the one world and we’ve all got to share it. / lets strive for a better tomorrow for our children today. thankyou for taking the time to view my art and (hopefully) comment… / please have a look at my other artwork… / hope you enjoy! :) /
The river powers this old red mill, a landmark in Clinton, NJ. Built originally as a wool mill in 1810, it was converted in the late 1800’s to a grist mill. Now a museum, with the mill wheel still being powered by the river and falls. Perhaps if we were as smart as our ancestors we would think of a way to generate energy again from free sources of energy like the waves of the oceans, the rivers power, and the wind, phasing out gas, and pollution generating sources of energy..
Another shot in this lovely abandoned house. I’m slowing getting them posted. Eventually I’ll get the image of the outside of it up…maybe :) I have a few, just have to finish editing and decide what ones make the cut, or at least get to test the waters. I was having trouble naming this one. As I was staring at the drywall patchwork that was started, I was thinking about how once upon a time someone started renovating the house, but didn’t finish. Makes me wonder why? So…even though there was no storybook ending to this house (at least not yet) I’m imagine it had a storybook beginning. My favorite spot any season, this shot was taken in October when the leaves are changing.. The northern birds come to NJ to overwinter which is why there are so many on the river. The River is the South Branch, the town Clinton, NJ USA. the Old Red Mill is now a working museum, and reflects the historic nature of the town built along the river in the early 1700s. If you’re near by it’s worth a stop. A perfect complement is this image of the Mill Wheel /
The old Red Mill at Clinton. Located just below the confluence of Spruce Run and the South Branch of the Raritan River. The Red Mill was built about 1812 to process wool. In its early days it was not nearly so large, nor was it likely painted red. All through the next one hundred years the structure would be expanded and altered to accommodate different endeavors; the enterprises included grist milling, plaster and talc grinding, graphite processing and peach-basket production. In 1960 five visionary businessmen, just old enough to remember the days of mills, horses and such, purchased the distinctive structure, gave it a new coat of red paint, and started the Clinton Historical Museum. / A few years later the Mulligan limestone quarry to the rear of the mill was added to the property along with the old quarry buildings; a mid-nineteenth century dwelling for workers, a stone shed converted to a blacksmith shop, and the quarry office along with several structures key to the industry; a massive lime kiln, and imposing lime-screening building, a shed for dynamite storage, and a one-man worker’s shack. In the 1970s a one-room school house from Alexandria Township was moved to the site, as well as two long wagon sheds from local churches. A log cabin, representative of the birthplace of Hunterdon County’s Revolutionary War hero General Daniel Morgan, was constructed in 1976. Today the site is known as The Red Mill Museum Village. A wide variety of special programs are offered for schools and the general public. Canon 5D, 28-105Z, South Branch of the Raritan River, Clinton, NJ October 2008

The Ross Fountain in West Princes Street gardens with part of Edinburgh Castle (the Hospital block) in the background. Cast near Paris, France in the Durenne ironworks in the early 1860’s. It was an exhibit in the Great Exhibition in London in 1862 and was purchased for Edinburgh by Daniel Ross a local gun maker and philanthropist. After much deliberation as to what to do with it, it was finally assembled in West Princes Street Gardens in 1872. The gold coloured iron structure shows a standing naked woman at the top surrounded by four more seated naked nymphettes representing the arts, science, poetry and industry. Below the first tier are a collection of mermaids. The celebration of the naked female is typical of classical French design, but it wasn’t appreciated by everyone, Dean Ramsay (1793 – 1872) whose church, St. John’s was nearby called the fountain “grossly indecent and disgusting”. The Ross fountain is now a Category B listed structure of historic importance (HB Number 27911) under the care of Historic Scotland. Edinburgh Castle dominates the city of Edinburgh like no other castle in Scotland, and Edinburgh Castle is unequalled in the whole of the British Isles. Over one thousand years of history sit on top of the famous Edinburgh rock. In recent years there have been concerns about rocks falling from the cliffs onto the gardens below, so the rather ugly netting has been draped on the rock face. Hopefully, over time, it will weather enough to be less noticeable. Princes Street Gardens at the heart of Edinburgh’s City Centre were once a lake called Nor’ Loch. The Loch, which had been the trash dump of Edinburgh for centuries was drained in order to improve access from the New Town to the Old Town. Later, the Nor’ Loch was transformed into the beautiful Princes Street Gardens we see today. It was a wrong turn down a dirt road, you had a bad feeling as you traveled down it..no houses in sight, finally you come across a old rickety building, you have to stop because you are so lost. / As you walk up to the door you can feel someone watching you, everything in you is screaming turn around..RUN..you climb the stairs and knock..a bit of relief settles in when no one answers, as you turn around to head back to your car, the door flies open behind you and you are thrown into a living hell.
