  • Blue paint liberally applied to an old factory on a blue sky day in a depressed eastern area of Melbourne, Victoria.

  • Photo taken from the Docklands in Melbourne.

  • This is a beautiful place in Montreal, Canada, called Square St Louis. / Many of the houses are painted these bright colours (no – they have not been Photoshopped!!) and it gives the area a very unique look.

  • St. Georges, Bermuda. 2006 It was a bright and sunny day when there was suddenly a rain shower. We hid under the overhang of a building and I shot this.

  • I completed a series of nocturnal images of buildings. These images attempt to express my love of nocturnal illumination, the completely different character of buildings at night, and the way illuminated buildings lose the illusion of solidity and become translucent objects showing their “insides”, their skeletal reality.

  • san francisco, august 2008

  • The Palais des Congrès in Montreal, Quebec, is a genuine feast for the eyes. It’s a convention center with a design relying mostly on its fabulous coloured windows. The effect is absolutely delightful, casting gorgeous colours both inside and outside the building, like a giant kaleidoscope. Here is a angled view of the windows, incorporating a row of brightly coloured cast-steel pillars. Focal length 55mm / ISO-100 / Aperture f/5,6 / Shutter 1/100 sec. Shot in aperture priority / Nikon D60 / AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f3.5-5.6G VR Featured in the group Sets of Two on May 14, 2009 Makes a great set with : /

  • I’ve always preferred color to B&W. I understand the allure of B&W, but my world is in colour.

  • Whilst on my trip to Jersey, I took an afternoon to roam the moor covered headland around Grosnez castle in the channel island of Jersey. This is one of my favourite places to visit. It is such a wonderful place to sit and think and to just take in the scenery. There are some fabulous walks / trails around here, and with the whole area blanketed with heather, the colour and fragrance is mesmerising. The name means the “grey headland” from the old Norse words “grar nes”. It was built around 1330 on the orders of Sir John des Roches, from a long lineage of Knights. It is protected on three of the sides by natural defences, features of the landscape. The high cliffs and rough seas make it impossible to attack from the sea. The the front was protected by a ditch. The castle was built with granite quarried locally, in St. John’s. I have more photos of this lovely castle, so i will share more info about this beautiful place. This is a HDR image combining 5 bracketed shots, using Photomatix Pro for Macs, and adjusting some tones and lighting in Enhance Details as part of Tone Mapping. • Looking down the Grand Canal from the top of the Rialto Bridge in Venice, Italy. Water traffic is chaotic here with Gondolas, Water Taxis, Vaporettos, Ferries, Speedboats and even Rowboats trying to make headway in the crowded canal. Moored watercraft line the banks. The buildings lining the canal are a fascinating mix of styles. Single RAW image Tonemapped in Photomatix Pro 3.2. Camera: Canon EOS 450D (Digital Rebel XSi in the USA) / Sigma 18-200mm lens / Exif data from the JPG / F-stop f/5.6 / ISO 200 / Focal length 72 mm BEST VIEWED LARGER Related shots can be found at: Venice or Italy. • Part of what I love about Melbourne is its vibrancy and its diversity. It is a city full of difference that most of the time blends well together. However, the amazing “colours” of each group of people in Melbourne are never lost and stand out in their own right. This adds to the dynamic nature of this beautiful city and is what I have tried to achieve here with this shot. Shot is of a new & modern apartment building in Melbourne’s city. Post-processing in Photoshop.
