  • Along Came a Spider
    by Karri Klawiter

    US$3.42–US$91.20

If you don’t already know, I have this weird (at least I’m told) Obsession with arachnids. I think they are one of the most beautiful and amazing creatures. I have been trying and trying to get a good shot of one, but since I don’t have a macro lense yet, it’s been difficult. I used my 4x zoom filters, which usually turn out blurry, but this one turned out great, in my opinion. And the fact that I caught this lovely lady on a white background, with the shadow she cast! What luck! Let me tell you, she did NOT want to pose for me. I had to keep nudging her to get out of the ball she formed. After this shot she just froze for well over an hour. Poor thing, I scared to death! I believe this gal is a “Barn Spider” ie. Araneus cavaticus / I think this makes such a cool looking card! LOL “

  • This image has 22 pictures of assorted bugs, spiders, and insects and would be a perfect greeting for any lover of creepy crawlies. I printed it in two sizes, 4 X 6 and 8 X 10 to make sure each little picture is visible and there’s no problem. Prints clearly! For the bug lovers among us, I hope you like this. I think my friend Jesika will; in fact, this one’s for you, Jesika! Postscript: (If anyone has grandkids, especially grandsons, I bet they’d love studying this bug card/poster. I know my grandson will so I’m sending it his way with Mammy’s love for him and the critters).

  • Itsy Bitsy Spider
    by Bonnie Taylor Barry

    US$4.27–US$114.00

Most people who have children or grandchildren are familiar with the Itsy Bitsy Spider song. When I spotted this very tiny spider (which I almost missed seeing altogether because it was so miniscule), I thought immediately of that childhood song. I took its picture and in PS, I placed the lyrics of the song right alongside it in remembrance of all the times I sang this with my children as they were growing up and am still singing it with my grandson who is now four. This may be a Mabel Orchard Spider, but I’m not sure. The field guides say it is 1/8 inch long. If anyone knows what kind of spider this is, I’d appreciate a word from you.

  • GOTHCHA !!
    by robkal

    US$3.42–US$91.20

This yellow flower crab spider sits motionless on yellow flowers and then surprises it’s prey. Here, a helpless bee is easy pickens . The yellow flower crab spider blends in seemlessly in yellow flowers, and is practically invisible to the naked eye. I checked in on this guy all day. He sat patiently for 12 hours, until the moment was just right. He uses no webs-just camouflage and precision timing! / Nature is amazing!

  • Fascinated by spiders, ‘Long Legs’ Luke underwent an extremely dangerous procedure to change his appearance. Now, unable to fit in to the norm – he is forced to live amongst the creatures that inspired his transformation. (Scroll down to see the process) Get the Birthday Card Here PROCESS / This Shirt took many hours to complete and it started with a simple sketch - Then, once scanned into the computer, I changed the colour to a light blue and ‘traced’ over it using the Pen Tool in Photoshop. I had an effect on each layer to show only pink outlines. Then, Once it was all traced, it was time for colouring, adding and modifying any awkward areas. The shirt he is wearing is Flaming Zebra White

  • Spider Stare Down
    by Daniel Spruce

    US$4.27–US$114.00

  • This was an interesting photoshoot. A friend of mine caught this Trapdoor spider in his house. He called me to let me know. I couldn’t make it there that day and I forgot about it. He called me a few days later to tell me that he was about to let the Spider go. Not wanting to waste an opportunity, I headed up to his house. We released the Spider on his carpet (they are not very fast moving, particularly when they have been in a jar for a few days – he did feed it though) and I took a few photos. I wasn’t getting the result I wanted. We moved a pencil around near the front of it as this type of Spider (and others in the Mygalomorph family which includes the Sydney Funnel Web Spider) raise up their front legs and sometimes hold the position before they strike. When they do strike, it is a repeated downwards motion as this type of strike is the most effective given the orientation of their fangs. I thought that placing the Spider on his glass coffee table may yield a more interesting result. We moved the Spider there in a jar and placed it on the coffee table. I still wasn’t getting the reflection I wanted. My friend then suggested a mirror (he had one that was small enough to be moved, but big enough to allow the Spider to move on it. This was perfect. We moved the pencil around in front of the Spider again until it held it’s pre-attack position. I took a few shots whilst it was in this position. It attacked the pencil a few times, but soon realised that its attempts were fruitless. We released the Spider unharmed after the photoshoot. :)

  • Black Jumping Spider
    by Renee Dawson

    US$3.56–US$95.00

This was actually a good sized jumping spider – as far as jumping spiders go :o) She had set up camp under the siding on our deck. Everytime I went out there she ran and hid. It took me approx. 2 weeks to finally catch up with her! / / Bugs are Beautiful / ADD RENEE TO YOUR WATCHLIST

  • Web Weaver
    by Karri Klawiter

    US$3.42–US$91.20

Since I am one of the hosts of the Arachnid Group, and don’t have a macro lense to get those great closeups, I figured I would upload a few of my Spider Pieces. I did a progressive portfolio based on spiders about 10 years ago, so if you know me, you’ve seen these before. The progression was that the pieces started as technical drawings and realistic paintings, then grew to more artistic, symbolic pieces. I will only be uploading a couple of the pieces. This piece is a painting I did still early in the progression. This spider is Mabel Orchard Spider, or Leucauge mabelae
