I know I’ve got a lot of HDR and humor, but I do take some serious shots. / Sigma 150mm macro + Simga 2x TC / This little guy was super patient with me! Even after this he didn’t fly away.

The Robber Fly is one of my favorite macro subjects. They have so much character. Very interesting to study as well. They actually catch their prey in mid air. This particular robber was only about 3/4 inch long. His meal was exceptionally small. I didn’t know he had until I looked through the lens.

This ladybug is so lazy, she decided to hitch-hike on the back of the butterfly, and just to be safe she´s wearing a helmet. ;-) / The sky and the water is made with Photoshop filters, the rest is from 4 different photos I´ve taken.

What can I say? This creature mesmerised me…and almost got me questioned by the staff at the Hardware/Nursey place. / I have no idea what type of dragonfly she is.(she? Yes…well usually the females in insects are bigger than the males!This one was HUGE at approxiamtely 4 inches from eyes to tip of tail….) I am entering this in the “Upclose and Spineless Photographic competition ” run by the Australian Museum. I have discovered it is called a “T-Mark” Emerald Dragonfly. You can see the T mark clearly on his nose.

This morning as we were heading out for a walk around town, I saw this dragonfly in the trees, figured this would be a good test to see whether or not I’m figurint out this macro lens, slowly but surely i hope Canon Xt, Sigma Ex 105 macro lens

Crazy as it is, there exist butterflies that have transparent wings. I have never seen one before, but they keep a few in the butterfly gardens in Knokke-Heist in Belgium. Mixed media: Gouache on collographic monotype Paper: 300gsm Hahnemulle printmaking paper First, the collograph was printed intaglio then relief printed a few times over that. / Second, when all the layers of ink were dry, I painted the dobson fly with gouache on top. Gouache is so good for painting over oil based inks. Surprising, no?

Ladybirds again from the Mt Burr area. More flowers taken out to them recently and they blend so well with the colours. Shot taken within the Mt Burr Forest, South East South Australia. Canon 400D 18-55 lens with three stage extension tubes.
