Argentinian Couple kissing during a Tango Dance
...just a bit of historic architecture with focus on geometric lines, texture and depth that caught my eye while in the San Telmo district of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
i bought these beautiful pencils in Plaza Dorrego, Buenos Aires.
...just another candid I took while waiting at a stop light in Buenos Aires. I love the stories this could unfold. Simply pick one person and imagine what they’re thinking, doing…or “whatever” is going on in their Argentine life.
Fellow member (PeteStreet) took notice of my MUSICAL MAIDEN photo in my portfolio. He wanted to know if I had taken a large pic of the mural while in Buenos Aires. I did—but here I chose to desaturate it, crop it a bit and add a bit of selective color. I’ll dedicate this one to “PeteStreet” since he inspired me to work on it. Thanks, Pete. :)

La Recoleta in the centre of Buenos Aries, is a vast and extraordinary necropolis that has become relevant historical and artistic monuments of the country. Its were the remains of Eva Peron lie. And its just staggeringly beautiful and massive. Its a world class expamle of funeral architecture and has been declared a heritage site. Still using film here. Ifford HP5. Then given its dark sepia cast to intensify the nostalgic and removed qualities in the image.

I love this photo for so many reasons. Here I was…a Buenos Aires tourist in the area of Palermo. I saw this elderly couple across the street and wanted to take their pic. Then…suddenly, a Buenos Aires bicyclist pops into my frame as I’m looking into the lens. He was delivering something and seemed to have passed the adress…so he stopped and started to back up. As he turned his head my way I spontaneously shot this one…and I love how it was so random and spontaneous. The wonders of photography when you’re at the right spot at the right time.
A small fragment of a building in downtown Buenos Aries as I strolled aroung the city with a small SLR camera loaded with HP5 B/W film. The colonial influence on the architecture in Buenos Aries is pronouced and very beautiful and and the contrast between that and the vast shanty towns outside the city make it somehow bittersweet. Film just seemed to be the correct answer to this particular place.
Another striking colonial building in downtown Buenos Aries. Shot with film on a very hot and bright cloudless morning. I’ve left it deliberately stark to accentuate the form and graceful lines of this beautiful building. I’ve rendered as a dark sepia to indicate a sense of the timewarp sensation I had while wandering the streets of this faded belle of a city.

The Colegio Nacional de Buenos Aires is a public high school in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In the tradition of the European gymnasium it provides a free, rigorous, multi-disciplinary education that includes classical languages such as Latin and Greek. The school is one of the most prestigious in Argentina. Many well known personalities, including two Nobel laureates, four Presidents of Argentina and a four-time Grammy awardee and six-time Oscar nominee have studied there. / The school offers a wide variety of activities and resources for the students, including a fully-equipped astronomy observatory, a swimming pool, a cinema, a sports campus with soccer, football, rugby, handball, volleyball and basketball courts. Many free classes are available such as astronomy, photography, languages, sailing, and martial arts. The sailing team is especially important, as it has won most of the local competitions. / Some of the most recognizable features of the French neo-classical building (pursuant to a project of the French architect Norbert Maillart), include the two symmetric white marble main staircases, the water fountain in one of the courtyards, the ornately-decorated assembly hall and its organ; and the Colonial-era tunnels that are accessible from the basement, notably from a hidden entrance behind the projection-screen area in the film auditorium.
