in this Boat / there are but seven…. / All good souls / in search of Heaven….... This is a photo-shop collage that I have put together featuring a couple of china-men statues from my front garden, together with a fabulous vintage (bakelite) ornament of a “Boat of Budhas” on their way to Heaven. I have called this one “Searching for Heaven” as I wish to portray the eternal struggle of (ummm) ‘Searching for Heaven’.... / The graduation of light on the wall lent itself so beautifully towards the “seek-the-light” feeling that I was trying to create…. This ‘Boat of Budhas’ has been on my shelf for some time now, and my Japanese daughter-in-law has told me a little bit of the story about the seven Budhas in a Boat on their way to Heaven….. / so this is my interpretation…... I hope I have not offended anyone, as this was, and never is, my intention. I fell in love with this little boat a few years ago when I happened upon it in my local charity shop. I later had it valued, and well, it is worth a hell of a lot more than the $2 that I paid for it :))))
