  • The blooms on this lovely plant soak up some spring sunshine. I thinks its clivia. Remember tho this is scotland… I brought this houseplant into a (so far this year unused) ‘summerhouse’ during a sunny interval , but my model and I had to soon dash for cover to avoid frost damage…. :)) Taken with a pocket fuji finepix A500 See also our turn soon.. I found it hard to choose between these 2 images so any comments and tips most welcome ..anyhow it makes a change from rotten apples – my last macro.. :)

Their habitats are considerably varied, ranging from cold and montane regions to the grassy slopes, meadowlands and riverbanks of Europe, the Middle East and northern Africa, Asia and across North America. Irises are perennial herbs, growing from creeping rhizomes (rhizomatous irises), or, in drier climates, from bulbs (bulbous irises). They have long, erect flowering stems, which may be simple or branched, solid or hollow, and flattened or have a circular cross-section.
