From Bayon, one of the many Khmer temples at Cambodias Angkor, dating back to the 13th century. Theres some 200 or so of these faces at this temple. It’s believed the faces are of the king Jayavarman VII, incarnate as the bodhisattva Avalokitesvara. This is the second picture in this series. The serene, all knowing expression of the giant stone faces, looking out to the Cambodian country-side.
Two monks gazed curiously at us as we walked through the back streets of the small Burmese village of Hsipaw. Around us were the crumbling ruins of faded whitewashed bell shaped stupas, overgrown in jungle. I wandered through the monestry grounds to the window and asked if I could take a picture. They posed with some amount of amusement and were elated to see their image on the screen. I thanked them in Burmese and with a smile left them to their day.
Another from Cambodias Bayon temple in Angkor. I’d like to know what people think, I feel there’s probably a few different ways this could be represented.
Some amazing ancient carvings can be found amongst the ruins of Angkor Wat in Cambodia. After many centuries of abandonment many ruins have almost been completely taken over by nature. This little carving seemed to be almost accentuated by this process.

And they came from thousands of miles to stand in awe. Just how did they build this Buddah, here on an Island miles from anywhere. We did it easy, by cable car, but it made me think, just how did they do it? Created from one original photograph, two texture layers, overlayed with dodging, burning and colour adjustments.

A candid shot of a buddhist monk sightseeing in Darling Harbour. Loved seeing quite a large group of them all using modern technology. / Just one texture layer and a bit of SC – thought these needed to stand on their own. Camera – Nikon D90 / Lens 55-200mm FEATURED IN – ‘Sets of Two’
