Taken on a recent trip to Colorado’s Winter Park. I love the delicate bit of web clinging to the bud…I didn’t even notice it till I crouched down by the trail to take the picture.

The moonlight was shining through my front porch window as I gave my miniature roses a ‘bedtime shower’, and the light was beautifully highlighting certain areas, while silhouetting other parts of the rose buds. Hope you like it. / Thank you for looking. Best Viewed Large.

Taken with a Canon EOS 450D. These roses were growing wild in my garden, and just seemed the perfect subject for my first still life HDR. 3 different exposures, all 2 stops apart were shot in RAW, and then processed in Photomatix. Extra layers were added and tweaked in GIMP.

This photograph of magnolia blossoms has a special place in my heart. Taken during my first venture out with my new camera, I’d never done anything but a spare amount of snapshots before. I had quite the revelation looking through the lens that day – I loved seeing the world this way. So much closer to nature’s beauty, I saw things I never noticed before. The petals were so white, the sky so blue. Certain shapes and angles suddenly made me happy. Latent instincts opened up – and I was hooked. Photo taken in Delta, British Columbia (Canada) with a Canon PowerShot A1000 IS camera. Featured in RedBubble’s “Blooming Trees” group on August 21, 2009.
