I crossed paths with this handsome young buck in velvet while hiking deep in the woods of Cades Cove, Smoky Mountains, Tennessee, USA. He seemed to be such a gentle creature, enjoying the new leaves of spring. He allowed me to photograph him for quite a while, as long as I stood very still. He always kept one eye on me as he enjoyed the tender vegetation. Other works in the Cades Cove Collection: Check out these other great animal cards: (Simply Click on the thumbnail to purchase!)

This gorgeous White Tail Deer is taking a chance that the only thing in my hand is a camera. Deer season opened last week and this is an easy and wanted shot for me or a hunter. It’s very rare to get this close, at this time of year, but this young buck was very curious.

The mule deer congregate in our area for the rut as we are on a sparsely populated butte. The baby Nyala turned 3 days old yesterday. He stood about 15 feet away from me. The mother left and hid behind the bushes, but he stayed and looked at me. I went down on my knees, so as not to frighten him. As I started to take a photo of him, he turned and started running towards me and that just finished me. I was absolutely stunned. I dropped the camera into my lap and reached out my hand towards him. It was so awesome to have this beautiful little creature sniffing my hand, before going to look for his mom. After he had walked away from me, he still kept looking at me. / Next to the birth of my daughter, this was an experience I had wished for all my life. / How trusting, innocent and beautiful. It is the way it should be between man and animals. “I’m 3 days Old” was featured in The Scavenger Hunt on / 8 Jun 2009 “I’m 3 days Old” was featured in PEACE, LOVE & TRANQUILITY on 8 Jun 2009
I was playing around with styles at first and kept placing the image through filters for the background. Then I added different photoshop brushes to create my theme and this what I came up with. I love the colors. /

Was out in the local woods early one morning while the fog was all around me and encountered this magnificent site. This shot was taken this morning before work … I was up early and headed for the woods again, but seeing that I’ve finally figured out how to get to the Deer Sanctuary, I decided to go & have a look … ... and I was in luck!! / The light was golden, the air was hazy and dreamy from the night’s slumber … and the deer were visible from the fence !!! :)) What a delight! The sanctuary is not actually accessible, so I wandered along the fence, looking for good vantage points, trying hard to get clear shots through the tight mesh fence! Walk 4 tells you a bit more about the area ... and to think that an hour and a half after taking this shot I was sat at my desk in the square mile of London, processing applications for financial failure insurance … 29 September 2009 / EOS 450D, f/5.6 @ 135 mm, 1/30, ISO 100
I couldn’e believe the size of his neck.

Hope you enjoy this one as I break this one in and re-enter RB for the first time in a long time!
Early Autumn and morning mist add to the quiet and softness of this scene. A young buck has come to drink and enjoy the quiet, but he has heard a sound behind him and so is on the alert for who or what may come through the mist, could be someone else looking for the same thing or it could be something more! Original image taken at Rogue Elk Park with HDR effects added with Dynamic Photo. Using Photoshop layers, the Image was then filtered thru Dreamy Photo. The Buck was added as a composite, lighting effects added using render then lighting effects.
This is the oldest roe deer buck (the king!) in my woods, he is 7 years old and has just lost his antlers from this season, / when he crossed the track I caught a quick look at the new ones coming on! Here he is studying me on his way out / of the woods. he was crossing the track in order to reach his family who stood on the other side!Although totally wild I often see him near the house where I live in Denmark! / the shot (I’m quick on the draw) was taken with a nikon D700 and a nikon 105 mm MICRO!! / data : ISO 500 F5 1/100 sec
