A lot of people are asking how to do the links to sets of photos or works in our profiles … so I thought I would outline it here for those of you that would like that option. First thing is to have sets in mind and tags to associate with those sets. Then … make sure you have those tags on the photos you want in each set. This way a photo can actually be in more than one set if you like :) Then …. to make the links in your profile: (I’ll use my tree tag as an example) / you type the set name followed by the link to all your photos tagged with tree like this ….. but without the spaces: ” Trees ” : http://www.redbubble.com/people/crackers1967/art/everything/tags/tree When you do this without the spaces you get this: Trees / Edit your Profile and place the set code somewhere within the About Me section. I place mine down a little lower because for some reason long lines get cut when you view your Profile on your Overview page, it looks neater down lower and only viewable when someone clicks on the more link. You should be able to copy and paste that line with the spaces and just change the word, tag name and username, then remove the spaces and go for your life. :) You can also bullet the list by placing a hash and then a space before the whole lot and it looks like this: Trees / / The easiest way to see what your username is, is to open up RedBubble and click on View your public Profile. Okay … so Xavier has implemented an awesome random banner generator (which shows three works from our portfolios) which can be used as an email signature. Read about it in the Forum If you wanna use the code for placing a clickable link in your Email Sig file (Or on a web page somewhere that uses HTML code) use your own Promote page to get the code for your banner. If you have any problems getting the Email Sig to work … please post your questions in the Forum topic about that. Now, for the profile bit you don’t need all this code you only need one part and you don’t even need to use the Widgetinator to get it …. I am going to make it easy for you ;) First you need your Username. That is the text you type to LOG ON to RedBubble, not nessecarily your Name as shown in RedBubble to others. My Username is crackers1967. My name in here is Craig Shillington. So we can’t get those confused. The easiest way to see what your username is, is to open up RedBubble and click on View your public Profile. Look in the address bar of your browser and it will show you your username at the end of the address: http://redbubble.com/people/username To get the link to the three thumbnails randomly pulled out of you portfolio, you use the following link {just put your username in place of where I have typed username http://redbubble.com/people/username/recipe:banner/username_banner.jpg If you want to test the link, simply type (or copy and paste it) in your browser address bar and if all is working you should open up a small jpg of three of your own works. If that doesn’t work, try making the second username with Caps. Try again. Hopefully then it works. When it works, THAT is the code to put in your Profile. Okay …. now that you have the address, edit your profile and where you want to show the three random photos (in the About You box) type an exclamation mark ! , then right after that (without a space) copy that address, then put another ! again without any spaces. Save your profile then view it and see if it works :) :) To turn the banner into a clickthru link … simply add a colon {:} and the link you want it to click to; after the colon (no spaces) Then if anyone clicks the banner, they will be taken to the url you put in there. :) Good luck :) View all my HOW TO’S

I thought I would do a separate and hopefully less complicated How To in regards to making links and showing Jpg files in RB. There seems to be a lot of confusion as to how these things work. So find the part you are interested in learning, maybe open up and edit an old Journal Entry and practice. VBS A URL is simply the text that shows up in your Browser Window Address Bar (up the very top), the line that starts with http:// If I refer to the URL, that is what I am talking about. ALL CODE IS WRITTEN WITHOUT SPACES Some wrapping of longer lines of code will occur within this Journal Entry, regardless of what the lines look like, code is always one continuous line WITHOUT spaces TEXT LINKS Sometimes it’s nice to have a text link when we are conversing to others in Red Bubble to help people share information, or to allow them to see another web page that has something to do with the convo. Maybe you like to include songs from YouTube with your work and want to share those Videos and music with others. Anytime you want someone to be able to link to another webpage somewhere, you can make a line of text (or one word) clickable to that link and it’s really easy to do. :) All you do is wrap the text you want people to see as a link, in qoutes {“} then add a colon {:} and then the URL. So let’s say you wanted to link to my Porfolio so people can have a look at buying something off me HEHEHE ... all you need to do is open up my portfolio page in your browser to get the URL from your browsers address bar and just type the name of the link text wrapped in quotes, followed by a colon, then the url so it would look like this (with no spaces) : ” Craig Shillington’s Portfolio ” : http://www.redbubble.com/people/crackers1967/portfolio Craig Shillington’s Portfolio is wrapped in quotes, so that is the text people will see. http://www.redbubble.com/people/crackers1967/portfolio is the link we want the text to click too When you type that within Red Bubble without the spaces you get this : Craig Shillington’s Portfolio So, abbreviated – to make a text link in Red Bubble you would type this in as code: ” text ” : link Replacing the text and link for yours and no spaces. DISPLAYING JPG’S GIF’S PNG’S ETC Please try to keep the size of these files small, both in dimensions and in download size, as if you use a lot of bigger files, the pages you put them on will load more slowly and that might piss people off!! Okay, you look around and you notice somehow people are actually making it so that you can see the thumbnail photos of thier works, or others have cool little animated gifs showing. Well … if you can bring up a photo by itself in your browser, you can show it in Red Bubble!! And again, it’s really really easy. If you want to know the link to any photo you can see in your browser window, right click on the image itself (PC Users … sorry Mac users, maybe someone can help me here) and go down to properties. In the window that opens up you will see a section that has the image properties and the location (or URL). That is the link we need to show that image. I use a little rotating Note near all the links to Videos throughout my Portfolio, so I will be using that as an example here. This applies to ANY image you want to display though. First, right click on this LINK and open in a new Window or Tab. That way you can still read this and flick back to the link to practice. :) You will notice at the top of my description for the photo, I have used the Text Link method described above to link to the Video of that Song in YouTube. And right next to that link, to draw attention to the link, I have my little rotating Note :) Right Click on the little rotating Note and go to Properties. In the box that opens you will see the Image Properties and A URL to the Image. It should be this: http://home.people.net.au/ ~ casphotography/notes-15.gif That is the link to where I have the Note.gif Stored. And that is all you need to know for any image, the URL that will show just that image in your Browser. If you copy that link to your browser Address Bar (with no spaces) and hit Enter … all you should see is an empty page with the little note rotating in the top left corner. PERFECT!! If you can open any image in this way, you have the URL in the Address Bar. If you copy a link to your Address Bar and it doesn’t just show the image, something is wrong. Most Image URL will end in JPG, GIF or PNG. There are some exceptions, but there should be one of those somewhere in the URL. Okay, so we have the URL, how do we make the image show in Red Bubble. Where you want the image to be shown, paste or type the URL. Then at the very start and the very end of the URL (with no spaces) put EXCLAMATION MARKS {!} So my note would then be (without spaces): ! http://home.people.net.au/ ~ casphotography/notes-15.gif ! And in Red Bubble will look like this: So, abbreviated – to make an image show in Red Bubble you would type this in as code: ! URL ! Replacing the URL with the URL for the image and no spaces. IMAGE LINKS Okay, so we know and understand now how to make links and also how to display images in Red Bubble. If you don’t, go back and understand it because this next bit could be very confusing if you don’t ;) We know we can show an image, and we know we can make links to text. So can we make an image work as a link? YES!! VBS And it’s sorta easy if you understand what the code is doing and how it works. I will be using my Message Me button link in my profile for this example. Because that is an Image that links to my message board and so you can leave me a message ;) Here is the link to my Profile The very first button I have in there is the Message me Button. When you click on it, it takes you to my Journal Entry I set up for people to message me in. So I know the link … all I need to get now is the URL of the button. Easy, again, right click the Message Me Button and goto Properties, look at the Image Properties and the URL there … It should be this: http://home.people.net.au/ ~ casphotography/m.gif We know from above, to display an image we wrap it in Exclamation Marks, so to show that in Red Bubble we’d type (no spaces): ! http://home.people.net.au/ ~ casphotography/m.gif ! Which will show as: Okay, we have the image up and working, how do we link to it? Exactly the same way we link to text from above. Simply follow the code with a colon {:} and the link you want people to goto when they click the image. I know it can be a little hard to understand how the Bubble works so hopefully I can make it a little easier for you by directing you all to this Journal Entry (JE) to give you some hints and tips on making the most out of Red Bubble :) :) Thank you so much for joining or at least having a look :) :) VBS HomePage and RedBubble Page. First off I would suggest adding these to your contacts. :) By adding these three into your contacts, you will receive information on the Red Bubble community into your Activity monitors. That way you will know right away about importance changes and announcements :) :) Selling you Works Okay, okay. I admit it …. that is what really attracted me to Red Bubble to begin with ;) It’s not so much the sales for me now and you will understand that the longer you stay involved with Red Bubble and the wonderful Community vibe here. But yes, we all want to sell our works and make money. :) :) Red Bubble has many options for selling our works and are introducing new options all the time. Ranging from Cards … all the way up to Fully Framed Prints. These are the dimensions for the files that you will want to have your works to be able to sell in each category: Cards: about 1300 by 900 pixels (1 megapixel) Small wall art print: about 1600×2400 pixels (4 megapixels) Medium wall art print: about 2160×3240 pixels (7 megapixels) Large wall art print: about 2560×3840 pixels (10 megapixels) For t-shirts, please upload PNGs that are 12” x 16” in size, with pixel dimensions of 2400×3200 pixels. You can access a template for t-shirt designs The Forum Red Bubble has a wonderful Forum where we can become so much more involved community wise :) It’s a great place to meet new people and also have deep and meaningful discussions and a wide range of varied topics or simply have fun :) The Forum also includes important updates you may miss and has many FAQ’s etc regarding Red Bubble itself. It might pay to have a look around in there too. To get to the forum, click on the People Tab at the top of the screen … then look down the bottom of the page that opens. Or you can click HERE Personalizing your Profile Some of us like to Personalize our Profile pages … or even just add quirky parts of ourselves to our pages and posts. Red Bubble does not use HTML, it uses a basic form of a code called Textile. It’s a fairly simple code to follow, so if you wanna know how to make a link, add a small picture and similarly personalize yourself here, I have written a few [HOW TO] ’s, hopefully explaining in simple terms how to do certain things using the code that Red Bubble uses. RSS If you are familiar with RSS, Red Bubble offers feeds on the Forum and also on every bodies Portfolio and Journal Pages. Keep an eye on the HomePage for any updates to this in the future. Simple Text Formatting As we are typing we can make our words Bold etc. by formatting the text we are using, here are some of the more basic ones you might want to use from time to time. There was a small peek at some of the things that go on inside the bubble the other day, and I thought it might be nice to give a broader view of what RB Central really looks like. This is a panorama composed from 6 individual images showing the heart of operations (well, other than the pub that is). Things have changed a little since this was taken (24th August), so with a little more re-decoration it may be worth posting an updated view. Some of you will notice some fresh bright coloured shirts attached to the wall awaiting a photo shoot, and also covering up the door through to where we keep the zoo. - John / /

Following several knock backs and aborted attempts to gain access to Paul Vanzella I have finally managed to jimmy the lock and enter the building that houses his workshop. It’s quite dirty to look at, yet remains aesthetically pleasing at the same time (much like a lot of his work). I have no doubt that I’m going in the right direction. There are bright flashes of light from the other end of this cavernous room, a cackling laughter can be heard along with a drone of generators / I’m entering the inner sanctum, the magic place that Paul (the Van Man) Vanzella creates his masterpieces. It’s hard to get into the corner, the bric a brack thickens as you get closer, then after squeezing between a digger and a airplane fuselage (that I’m sure I have seen before), I’m there! Blinking in the full glare of the spotlights lighting this whole area! / “WHO DARES DISTURB ME?” booms a voice from the shadows, I can just make out the outline of a figure in the lights. It looks like one of the aliens from Close encounters!!! Shock horror – Paul Vanzella is not human, hold on a moment, that’s hardly news is it, I mean we have all seen his work! / From behind me I hear movement, like the wind through silk curtains, suddenly I realise that I’m not here in the light on my own! Oh no the Van-man is in the middle of a shoot, that means if I turn round I’ll get an eyeful of Jo (No Clothes) O’Brien. / Trying to ‘nonchalantly’ turn around, I manage to avoid the expected whiplash and there in front of me stands No Clothes O’Brien ! In the nip , her birthday suit, wearing just a smile! Do I need to go on? / She looks less than happy at me being there! “how dare you” she squeeks, “we were just in the middle of recreating the Venus Di Milo! But we were going to call it the Jo Di Milo” ahh that explains the strange yellow sheen to Miss O’Brien’s skin, and here was me thinking it was jaundice. She makes no move to hide herself, instead she hisses, “best look elsewhere four eyes or I’ll turn those glasses your wearing into contact lenses!” she’s not joking there’s a real violence in her you can see it in her eyes and the scabs on her knuckles! / Turning back was where I got the whiplash “just do exactly as I say and nobody will get hurt” she whispered into my ear “isn’t that right Pauly?” she cackled. The lights dimmed and I could make the Van Man out a little clearer, he wasn’t an alien he was chained to the camera, in fact 5 camera’s hung round his neck making him visibly stoop, his ankles were chained together…a look of the defeated in his eyes he mouthed “Help Me…”. / So there we have it, Paul Vanzella is being held against his will and forced to take pictures of Jo ‘No Clothes’ O’Brien (his number one fan!), in her dastardly scheme to take over the bubble with the power and volume of her image. Oh the inhumanity of it! PLEASE NOTE THAT THE EPISODES FOLLOW ON FROM EACH OTHER IN A SOAP OPERA STYLE. WHILST EACH EPISODE SHOULD BE A STORY IN ITSELF IT IS HOPED THEY THREAD TOGETHER. The Thought Bubble is our meeting room – it’s the garage in our office. We’ve made it up to look a little more creative and enticing than a normal garage. But how times have changed. We’re in the middle of developing all the products we recently outlined in the roadmap and there’s stuff everywhere. Check out the following before and after images: Needless to say we’re working hard on the development of the new products! Here’s a photo of the back cover of In The Moment which goes on sale later today. The cover is very cool. It’s made of this heat sensitive material which is dark at room temperature and transparent when heated … revealing the cover design underneath. Well done on putting this together team! - Peter

While your are enjoying a nice Easter break here is a quick peak inside the Bubble last Thursday (Melbourne time). Its 8 am and the Board has its monthly meeting. The Board is Peter and Martin and on the phone is Simon Baker who is calling in from lovely London (Simon is the Managing Director of Australia’s premier online realestate site – realestate.com.au). Peter is dressed in his usual snappy bike attire (giving both the Bubble and bike attire a bad name). Martin still has that soft post meditative glow about him – he will gradually lose this during the day. 10am and the whole team convenes for show and tell. We all get together including Grant (who is on the phone from Perth) and David who is using the phone to keep his hands warm in Halfax (we call him every few days to make sure he hasn’t gone into hibernation). Our somewhat less than hirsute, tech leader Justin is leading off with the tech review. The whole team gets to complain about new features before you all do. Everybody will get their turn to show what they have done for the week (some choose to fake heart attacks if they have been less productive than they felt was needed). Finally (and it is now 11am) the whole team is hard at work trying to clean up the release so it is presentable for showing to you all. You will notice there is a LOT of art of various sorts about the place. We found it was much cheaper to put art on the walls than to have big offices with comfy chairs and a soccer table. The release will be out by about 2am GMT (or noon Melbourne time). There is then (normally) a bit of a scramble with bug cleaning up and next week is planned. That is Jo and Hop staring at the printer like it held the secret to life. Truth is that they needed some excuse to get in the photo as their chairs were off-screen. Happy Easter to everybody. Martin

I am not sure if someone else has already posted a tutorial on this, so I thought I would have a go at it. I read this very insightful tutorial by admin Xavier Shay about posting a Portfolio into an email signature. I was toying around with the code, and discovered how to place the code on your Red Bubble profile page. I have noticed that some people have already figured out how to do this, so there are some who probably already know about this. I, however, did not know this until I toyed around with it and, so, I am sure that there others out there who might find this of value. I would first recommend that you read Xavier’s post and the comments that follow, as they were a very big help in learning how to do this. (1) The first step is to use the image location link that was provided in the forum tutorial: http://redbubble.com/people/username/recipe:banner;back_color:ffffff;orientation:horizontal;limit:4/username_banner.jpg (2) Next, paste this image location link somewhere in your “About Me” section between exclamation points, like this: !place the image location link here! (3) Now, notice the bold areas of the above link. You must insert your Red Bubble username (not your real name) where it says username (there are two spots in the link where you have to do this). So, my link would like like this: http://redbubble.com/people/bchrisdesigns/recipe:banner;back_color:ffffff;limit:4_;orientation:_horizontal;/bchrsidesigns_banner.jpg Can you tell where I have replaced “username” with “bchrisdesigns”? (4) Finally, if you take note of the italicized text in the image location link directly above, you will notice that the values of “back_color”, “orientation”, and “limit” are all italicized. These values are yours to control and manipulate to get the proper look and feel that you would like on your page. back_color: is the image’s background color, which you can change to any color using the standard HTML Color Code. Note, that you do not need to use the # (pound sign) that normally precedes HTML Color Code (i.e. ”#ffffff”) – you just need the code (i.e. “fffffff”). #ffffff is the color code for “white”. limit: is the number of thumbnails that will be seen in your banner. I have experimented with this in my blog and have discovered that the most you can set it to is “6”. On your Red Bubble profile page, the most you can really set it to is “4” for horizontal images and “6” for vertical images orientation: is the way your portfolio will be seen. This can be changed to either “horizontal” (from side-to-side) or “vertical” (up and down). And, that is it. Once you have decided how you want your image to look, just save your profile and presto! You’ve got a nifty banner on your page. BUT… If you would like your banner to be click-able, you need to add a link code to it, such as: ”! image location here ! ( link description here )” : hyperlink here You can copy and paste this example into your “About Me” section and then fill in the blanks with your information (make sure you delete any and all spaces). In the above example, replace the underlined text as follows: image location here: replace this text with the finalized image location link that we worked on in steps 1-4 above. link description here: replace this text with a description of what you would like people to see when they hover over your banner. (Mine says “View My Red Bubble Gallery”.) hyperlink here: replace this text with the actual hyperlink that you would like your image to link to (i.e. a specific Red Bubble section or your profile page; you can also link to your blog/website/etc.). Once you replace the text as indicated, simply save your edited profile and check out your radical awesomeness! Here is an example of mine (with hyperlink): I hope this helps everyone! Cheers! P.S. The following chart was made to help take the guess work out of how your t-shirt design colours will look after Red Bubble’s colour conversion. I simply took a CMYK swatch palette from Photoshop and put it on a t-shirt in Redbubble. As a result, all the colours were converted. Update- I’ve now added coordinates so you can easily find the relating colours between each swatch set. -In the first block of swatches is an extensive range of CMYK colours which you can use while in RGB or CMYK mode to colour your designs. On the bottom is how these colours will be converted on RB’s shirt design preview. Hello hello, welcome to another RedBubble Thursday. Here’s an update on what’s been released, what’s coming up and what’s going on: Activity Monitor This is still very much a work in progress, so I probably should give you some background information. We think the Activity Monitor is really important to the future of RedBubble. As the site grows, we think it’s going to be more and more important that content comes to you instead of you having to find the content. This means more types of activity events will be sent to you, which also means you’ll probably want to customize your monitor, focusing on the information you want, and ignoring the stuff you don’t need. So we’ve split the Activity Monitor into two groups: “Favorite Feeds”, which will be shown by default “Other Feeds”, for the stuff that you don’t care about too much, but might want to check out from time to time You can move the feeds between the two groups to find the right balance of information for you. Here’s a quick screen shot: It might seem a little overkill right now, but as we add in more and more feeds, I think it’s going to make a huge difference. We’ll also make it easier to organize the feeds (soon-ish) with drag-n-drop, etc. 2009 Calendars We’ve also rolled out a new 2009 Calendar design (all calendars have been automatically updated). Here’s a preview of the cover, February and the new back cover from one of John’s Calendars calendars : They’re still self-purchase only at this stage (which means they can’t be purchased by the general public), but we’ll try and get to that really soon! Pete says “if we sell more than a hundred in June, I’ll buy John a beer”. We think this should be extended to all staff and apply to each batch of 100 calendars, so please, go and buy lots of calendars to keep us all well-hydrated! The Bubble Sites Beta Continues We’ll be inviting a few more testers today, and we’ve made some improvements to the product menu design: The Challenges Beta Continues The Challenge Café Group have been helping us beta test the new challenges interface. It’s going really well, and we’ll probably open up the testing to a few more groups in a week or two after we polish some edges. And… Sets Are Coming Soon! I’m usually really nervous about pre-announcing features, but the #1 feature request right now is sets—the ability to organize or group your work into smaller ‘sets’ or ‘collections’ or ‘folders’ or something. This has been amplified even more now that we’re beta testing the new Bubblesites. We’re still at least a month (or even two) away from releasing them, but I wanted to let you all know that we’re listening, working on it, and really want to get them out ASAP. You are visitor number come on in, sit down and make yourself at home, I’ll go put the kettle on :) / Framed original paintings hanging in my studio Due to the lovely Robin Pushe’e requesting i post some photos of my studio…i took a few clicks…and here it is.. my studio is a double garage that was purpose built for the job. It is detached from the house, and large enough for me to pursue all my creative projects. also you will see Madonna & Child hanging in the restaurant Chill Cafe at the Manly Arts Festival in Sydney…along with the other winning entries :) The photo was most graciously taken by the lovely bubbler Samantha Goode who was kind enough to go out of her way for me to take some photos so i would have an idea of how it all looked…Thank you so much Sam!! The centre ‘tables’ were specially made to our specifications, and the other furniture all bought from Ikea / .... piece I’m currently working on with my pencil drawing of Lost and Found sitting next to it for reference, plus lots of other references, and there’s all that lovely light pouring in the window. / Large framed originals of Midnight Blues and Polly’s Pearls on studio floor / Here’s one of Karin working on Madonna & Child on brown paper, alongside for reference are Stargazer and Jess n Jumbo Karin working on the intial stages of what will become Scuba Diva I’m using chalk pastels here to fill in the large areas, then I’ll spray fixative and work in the shadows and final touches with acrylic, ink and charcoal. / Main work area, covered in reference material. I paint on the slanted easel table, some of the sketches on brown paper for Children of the World series are visible, ie I Luv Lollies and Scuba Diva. Setting the studio up took about a year of planning from initial inception. If you look closely you can see my matryoshka (russian doll) blanks in the far background. Also notice the mirror, mirrors are very important in art, if you have a problem with a drawing, look at it in the mirror (for a reversed image) and you will be able to tell what’s wrong… turning your drawing upside down will also help to reveal where the problem is. I also use the mirror if I need a reference such as feet, hands, and don’t have an image…i will sketch my own hands, feet, face….you have to be a bit of a contortionist sometimes! lol I like to hang the things that inspire me on the clothesline, including makeshift plaits from wool and dried out teabags for use in mix media applications…special greeting cards I’ve collected along the way, or particular artists that always inspire me. / A bit boring this image, my PC and printer…and messy desk area, where I work on digital colouring, etc and keep up with what’s going on here at Red Bubble / A sample of some of my canvas prints on studio floor, including Whale Dancers Two Dolls and Pearl of the Sea storage space, purpose built for the job (it’s great to have a place for rolls of stuff and keeps things nice n clean) / (more storage and the top of these benches serves as a terrific workspace and layout area. I’ve used it to create small studio and lighting effects to photograph the CHUNKIES and jewellery. You can just make out Jack and Jill on the brown paper on top of bench Loose and matted originals out on the bench, getting sorted into display folders, and frames being sanded back and refreshed after some were damaged during gallery transit Karin at work on award winner Madonna & Child with Stargazer’s flippers peeping out! Works created on brown paper, cut out and pasted onto digitally designed or plain backgrounds for maximum effect. a clearer view of the workspace from another angle, bit messy hey! The set of drawers to the right is fabulous.. it’s on castors and moves..the drawers are slimline and pull out so easily…they are full of inks, pastels, acrylics, mediums, icecream lids (for mixing paint), stamps i’ve made from cubed erasors and lots of other odds and ends. Karin gets stuck into a painting…. am often completely unaware of how much paint gets all over my face, hair, hands… kids come home from school and just giggle at me, ‘til i realise…. i’m covered in stuff and need a good scrub :) Getting lost in the moment can do that to you :) Can you see my wool plaits I use as hair models in the background, there’s a normal plait and a fishtail plait, both help me to recreate drawings of plaits…. I also use a lot of fashion mags for reference, particular for eyes, faces and fashion ideas. My bookcase is bending under the weight of all my reference books. To the right, can you see my set of drawers? This photo was for a media release. / Karin (blurrily) modelling her niece’s Little Multicolour Teapot tee on aqua in girly fit style, sorry for the blur…definitely not blurred in real life! / Karin with Asia Calendar / Karin wearing her Pirate Chick tshirt design, purchased from Red Bubble Karin in studio wearing a tee by Keith Richardson with the ‘chop’ initials he created In the background I have large white foamcore sheets onto which i thumbtack references torn from magazines and newspapers, you can use both the front and back and they are lightweight and portabe…a large sheet of foamcore is somewhere between $10 and $20 – handy stuff. On one I have kids fashion, clothing, plaits, kids in different poses, on another depictions of faces and in particular eyes so that I can study them and keep on track with the anatomy of them, I have another one covered in roses… they are also useful for pinning a display, or an artwork on paper, so i can take it inside and view it over a period of days…then decide what it does or doesn’t need…. all this while doing the ironing and other domestic things…so the mind is ever on the go thinking about art, and solutions to creative problems. / View through the window, of some of my original works on paper, includes Thoughts Become Things (girl in bathtub) and Little Green Teapot (my most popular image on red bubble) and Heart of Gold (girl on horse), also in view are Maiden Voyage (asian inspired sailing boat), Kiss Away my Tears (mother and daughter with rabbit) and Endless Love (asian princess in navy and gold) / Here’s some of the stuff I collect when I’m walking around, twigs, coral, flowers, dried leaves, unusual seaweeds, aboriginal artefacts/axes…tools/precious rocks, dead palm fronds, grasses, paper bark, seeds, shells, dead crustacean shells, textures…etc. just a bower bird really…love shiny things that glitter too :) Can you see the dried flannel flowers in the frame? I grew them, and mum pressed and framed them for me. I also collect May Gibbs work, and there’s my son’s beautiful ship drawing to the left. / ...a few more odds n ends, including my matryoshka blanks, which I’m yet to paint! / ...tools of the trade, an assortment of coloured pencils, charcoal and brushes / Bookcase bending under the weight of reference materials I’ve collected…on top my coveted collection of ‘Art Collector’ magazine along with a stack of “art almanacs’ and ‘art gallery guide australia’... / ...bit messy, but you get the idea, drawers full of fabric and other things i’ve found, colour coded, ready to use in mixed media applications. / Display table full of promotional materials, ie postcards, pamphlets, business cards, samples of art stretched onto tiny canvases, one of my giclee resin necklaces depicting Beach Shed Chic and a couple of matryoshka dolls (collections, not my own work)... also there’s the book illustrated by myself and written by iAN Derrick called She Sells Sea Cards By the Sea Shore the the Griffith Review in which my art Baby Bull Productions was featured…plus some other books written by friend Bob and amazing vector art by Matt Mawson / ...more tools of trade, watercolour crayons and gesso….you all know how much i love gesso :) Total Visits

Hope it helps :) Hi Everyone This would be the most FAQ I receive from other bubblers, ie, how do i enhance my profile, how do I create a link, how do I display my products on the page…. It’s so easy, very simple, just a few steps away – anyone can do it, you can do it!! Be encouraged! As I receive lots of requests for assistance about enhancing the front profile page of your red bubble homepage, I have decided to take some time to describe and explain in a step by step tutorial the various methods. / a) I always begin by opening up two tabs/windows / b) Open the ‘edit your profile page’ or the ‘edit your description’ box in the first tab/window / c) In the first window where you are editing your description, type an exclamation mark ! / d) Click to open the other tab/window / e) Go to the public view of the image whose product you wish to display / f) Click on the BUY/PREVIEW NOW button / g) You will notice there are a range of products here for you to choose from eg, card preview, print preview, laminated print preview, matted print preview / h) Click one of these options to view the product / i) Once you have chosen which product you’d like to add as a preview, right click on it and select ‘copy image location’ / j) Return to your first opened tab/window and paste the ‘copied image location’ right beside the exclamation mark / k) Add another exclamation mark after the pasted image location, leaving no spaces / YOU NOW HAVE DISPLAYED YOUR PRODUCT You can go on to make this a clickable link if desired. / l) Add a colon right next to the exclamation mark / m) Click on the second tab/window and press the back button at the top left hand side of your browser twice until it returns to the public view of your image / n) click in the url website address box at the top of your computer to highlight it / o) right click to copy the address / p) return to your first open tab/window and paste the copied url address beside the colon / YOU NOW HAVE A CLICKABLE LINK to the page from your product preview display This is very similar to how you would display a tshirt, but the tees are a littler easier, you do not need to go to the BUY/PREVIEW as you can copy the image location of your tshirt for display just by going to the main page where your image is located… bypassing that step, the rest is pretty much the same. for example below is a clickable text link / Click here to see my Calendars when you create the link it should end up looking something like this / a) I always begin by opening up two tabs/windows / b) Open the ‘edit your profile page’ or the ‘edit your description’ box in the first tab/window / c) Type one set of inverted commas / d) Type in the text, eg, “link to my website” , or “click here” / e) Type another set of inverted commas at the end of your text / f) Type a colon : / g)Click on the second tab/window and go to the website you want your text linked to / h) Right click in the url box at the top of the screen to highlight the url/website address or another page on red bubble where you are linking your text to a work of art etc / i) Paste the address right beside the colon / j) there should be no spaces whatsover / k) Click on the button to Save your changes / l) Go to preview and check the link has worked and is clickable / m) If not – recheck that you haven’t left any spaces, etc for example below is a clickable image link / It should look something like this / a) as above / b) as above / c) Type in an exclamation mark ! / d) Click on the second tab/window and go to the image you wish to add and make clickable / e) Because most images on RB are now protected with clear gifs, you cannot just copy the image itself, you will need to click on the preview/buy button to view the products, such as cards and prints, unless it’s a tshirt…which you can copy… once you’ve chosen product you wish to display….. / e) Right click on the image and choose the ‘copy image location’ option an click on it / f) Return to the first open tab in the editing box / g) Paste the image location right beside the exclamation mark / h) Type another exclamation mark, directly after the image location / i) Type a colon / j) Click on the second tab/window and go to the url address of the page your image is on / k) Click on the address to highlight it / l) Right click to copy the address / m) Return to your first tab/window and paste the url address beside the colon / n) Click to save your changes / o) Click to preview / p) You should have a clickable image link / q) If not, return to your editing and check you have left no spaces anywhere here’s an example of a clickable thumbnail / Here’s what it should like like to you / a) as above (open the edit your profile box in my bubble) / b) as above (open it up at my bubble and go to Art) / c) return to the edit your profile box / d) insert an exclamation mark / e) Click on the second tab/window / f) Locate the small thumbnail you wish to display in your profile from your Art or TShirt Section Listings in your My Bubble area / g) Right click on the small thumnail and click on copy image location / h) Click on first tab and paste the image location right beside the exclamation mark / i) Insert an exclamation mark directly after the url / j) Insert a colon directly after the exclamation mark / k) Click on your second tab/window / l) Go to the thumbnail and click on the thumbnail / m) Go to the url/website address of your image and click in the url box to highlight url address / n) Left click to copy the address / o) Return to your first tab/window (edit your profile) and past the url address directly beside the colon leaving no spaces whatsoever / p) Save your changes / q) Go to view publick view of your work / r) You should now have a clickable thumbnail / s) If not go back to edit your profile and check you’ve left no spaces and recheck your steps PS – if you wish to add a whole heap of thumbnails repeat the process, leaving one space between each thumbnail Here’s an example of a Banner / Here’s an example of what it would look like to you / I have added some nice banners to the front of my Profile Page, and folks often ask how this is done. If you have software like Photoshop and are family with it, then it should be fairly easy. I create a banner in Photoshop, using a simple rectangle shape, keeping it rather small in size …. approx 500×70 pixels (or 6×9 cm) something like that should fit fairly well in the space. I then save my file. I opened a Photobucket account especially so that I could create banners and save them to Photobucket (a free online Photo storage facility). Photobucket is very easy to use, simple and self explanatory. Once you have opened your account there you can upload your banners from your Photoshop saved files. Once you have saved your banners there, you can click on the Direct Link button beneath your thumbnail, to automatically copy the image location address. To make your banners appear in the ‘Edit your Profile’ area, or in your Description Boxes, you only need to do the following: a) as above / b) as above / c) In the edit your profile or description box, insert an exclamation mark / d) click on the second tab where you will have your Photobucket opened up / e) click on the Direct Link in Photobucket to copy the address of the banner you’ve created / f) Go to your first tab/window and paste the Direct Link image address directly beside the exclamation mark / g) Type in another exclamation mark directly after the Direct Link address / h) SAVE your changes / i) Go to View public profile / j) You should now have a beautiful new banner visible on your page / k) if not, recheck your steps and make sure you’ve left no spaces You can make your banner clickable by additionally adding a colon after the exclamation mark, and adding the url of the page you wish to link the banner to. / See example below: / / or / click here to view my tshirts In order to do this you must tag all similar works with a word, by going to edit your art work, and adding the tag to your other tags and saving your work, once you have adding the appropriate word to each of your works, to categories them… you can begin making sets to take customers to sets of your work… you can use a banner or text or an image link to do so for the first part… sandwiching the text/image/banner between two exclamation marks as we have done above. I can’t talk about these filters in any sort of technical way, but I can explain what I bought, and how good they are at allowing you to shoot dawn and sunset without losing all your sky detail. I started off with a set of Cokin P filters. The filters sit in a plastic holder, that attaches to the front of your lens by way of an adaptor ring. The ring needs to fit the front element of your main landscape lens. When I used the Canon 20D the Cokin P was fine, with no vignetting, but once I bought the full frame Canon 5D, my lens had to be closed down to 24mm wide. This was unacceptable to me, since I like wide landscapes. Looking into various other filters meant spending quite a bit more money, however, all the reviews showed Lee filters to be ideal. There are a couple of companies here in Oz that sell them, and after wasting time ordering and paying in advance to an overseas company, only to find that they were out of stock, with no idea of a delivery date, I asked for a refund and contacted Mediavision in Sydney. Geoff was very helpful, and gave me a quote for a foundation kit, wide angle adaptor ring, a set of 3 neutral density soft graduated filters, and a full 0.6 ND filter. Postage was only slightly extra, and I had them in my hot little hands within the week. They all have their soft cloth or soft vinyl bags, and it’s easier to slip them in and out of there without having to take off my backpack. Before dawn I’ll generally just have the adaptor ring and holder on the lens, with no filter. As the sun gets closer to jumping up from under the horizon, the filters are brought into play. Usually I’ll add the 0.6 first, if there’s not much cloud around, and once the sun has risen, the 0.9 will be added on top. The soft graduation means that you can slide the filter up and down, even slightly below the horizon, and it doesn’t leave a solid line. I haven’t been in a situation where I think I’d need the hard grad, to be honest. The holder turns easily if you wish to switch to portrait mode, just remember to turn it back when you go back to landscape mode! Because I live in Queensland where the sun is especially bright, all year round, it’s important to have these filters to make the most of a good sky. It’s near impossible to capture sky detail AND foreground detail without them. I don’t shoot in the daytime if I can get away with it, usually we pack up and leave the beach within 30mins after sunrise. I believe that you can still make good use of the ND grads all through the day, but I don’t have any real experience of that. Even shooting waterfalls can be easier when using ND filters, because it cuts out some of the light that might otherwise over-expose your image if you’re trying for silky water. The only problems we’ve all had is when the sea mist is particularly bad. In that instance we are constantly looking for ways to clean the filters, and still haven’t come up with a satisfactory solution. If anyone can help, we’d be much obliged! Since I belong to Redbubble SCOUTS, and have been welcoming and encouraging new RB artists, thought I might put it out there to help make this site a little easier to get around and understand. / Once you’ve opened an account, if you don’t have a picture uploaded, your icon will simply be a red bubble in a character comment blip – NOTE: if you want to make sales, a picture of yourself always lets the customer connect to you and your work. / OVERVIEW Page / I call this page the ‘catch up page’, since all your activity shows up on the feed. / On the left side of the page is usually those you’ve added to your watchlist and their uploads, any commentary on your work, replies to your commentary – ALL check marked if you have looked at those pages, replied and the feed type is gray, rather than the blue links if you have already responded. NOTE: on the right side of the page, you can configure what you wish to show up on your ACTIVITY FEED, by clicking onto Filter activity Feed. Comments: when someone comments on your work, you can reply (click) and they will receive a feed that you responded – if they are rude (click report) or delete (if you wish to report, do this first before deleting)– when you just comment below you will be the only one who knows. / On the Right side of the OVERVIEW page is: / Add Work – clicking here scrolls down Art, T-shirts, Calendars, Writing & Journals / Filter Activity Feed – as mentioned above, you can configure this feed to be included on your Daily Activity, or just check on the lists for features, favorites and all the other goodies mentioned therein. / Sales History – RB always stays on top of your sales and lists what you’ve sold and how much you’ve profited. / Edit Profile Page – clicking here lets you build your profile to maximize your friends and customers to know who you are and what your art is about. Profile Page: your URL for your profile will be www.redbubble.com/people/yourname to edit this page, you can add links to other sites and pictures like instructed above, in the describe yourself box. The daily feed question request has been helpful to me, not having to sign in daily. They’ll send you an email of your daily activity – you click onto any underlined feature, activity or comment and you are there – I save them in my email inbox, until I receive the next one. / View Profile – lets you see your finished product for marketing yourself and your art. / Below that gray colored feed is a list of any and all GROUPS that you belong to, including whether or not you are participating in a challenge, including vote counts. Groups: join the ones you feel you can get the most exposure and follow their specific rules, you can click onto anyone in your watchlists’ list of groups to seek commonalities. Or, while looking at artwork posted by others, on the right side where the description is – below are underlined groups that have accepted the artwork and you can click those to learn more. Challenges: RB just made most of the challenges really very easy as the group will send notice in your overview feed, click onto enter now and all the work you have uploaded will show up to chose from for entering; note whether they require a TAG, you may need to edit before entering. They have not yet mastered entering “writing” works, most groups do it in forums. / The next box down is Redbubble Community News, always interesting tidbits for the benefit of the community at large. / If you are into FORUMS, the next section lists your Watched Topics, the forums you have the most interest in watching. Across the top of your page are small buttons, their functions are: / ACCOUNT – edit profile, change portrait (icon), edit addresses for payment, accepting user agreement, edit payment details, viewing sales, change password and/or cancelling account. / ART – from here you can either add a new piece of Artwork or view all the art you have uploaded so far, details of total amount of ART & views can be seen at the top OR each artwork shows sales, comments, favorites and views of each individual piece. NOTE: the top 6 artworks show on your profile page and you can move these around according to the arrows at the far right side. You can also click onto ‘edit’ from this page on any individual artworks. Image Sizes: For all sale items except clothing and calendars, the size of images uploaded should be 2500×3500, then in the ‘Items for sale’ section (below tags), you can check all: cards, mounted print, laminated print, canvas print, framed print and posters for sale. Dear Red Bubbly people…. We were asked by Community to write a journal on how Red Bubble has changed our lives.. I had already done this, but it was a written work, so I’ve adjusted it slightly and uploaded this as a journal… you can do this too and you just have to tag your journal with redbubblelove, as we would love to hear from everyone! Here we go….. Red Bubble has changed my life... I thought you should know…. I am a different person now….. people recognize me in the street….. people have respect for me as an artist now…. I have respect for myself… I found my way…. I was lost and when i reached Red Bubble, it felt like I was found… I have for a long time (well all of my life) been looking for friends, for people that were like me…. there was no-one, absolutely no-one… until I met one artist friend who lived next door for a while, then unfortunately moved away, back to England, we got on like a house on fire… that got me thinking that artists were like me… if only i could find more artists, i thought… I could have more friends that think similarly, that understand what it’s like to be an artist, to live this lifestyle…. but my biggest question was, where would i find them… hmm … this continually confounded me. One day, I came across Red Bubble, because my heart was wide open, and I knew I’d found something special… something i’d been looking for my whole life long….... friends, companionship, and people who think like i think…. it is more than just a little thing… it is a huge change for me… i feel at home at Red Bubble… like my favourite lounge chair… like sipping my favourite drink, or eating my favourite meal, or going out to my favourite restaurant… I found where i belong… Red Bubble is my watering hole, the place i go to renew my soul. It is also the place where I get to share my heart and soul with others, it’s in me to love and encourage others, there’s not enough of it around, so I pour it out lavishly on whoever will receive it… and in return they lavish love on me. There have been some hairy moments… I’ll admit that. But that’s life isn’t it… and I’m learning as I go… we all are… I am so moved and touched by the philosophy of Red Bubble, and how you accept everyone, it ties in well with my own philosophy of acceptance and encouragement. Not everyone feels the same way, but that’s okay, different strokes for different folks and all that. I don’t know where I’d be today without Red Bubble, it was there for me at a very difficult time in my artistic and my personal life, where i felt all other doors had closed to me….. It seemed to me then that all other avenues to expressing my art in the community seemed to have dried up and I was at a loss as to what to do, I almost gave up. It’s extremely important for me to me to see my art go full circle… I like to see my art sell, to create is not enough for me, it must not only be expressed, but shared and loved enough to be received into someone’s heart and home. Red Bubble gives me this opportunity each and every minute of every day…this is what i appreciate. I would just like to say all this to you now… as it seems rather apt and timely to do so… you have embraced me, my art, who i am… I cannot thank you all enough… also for your understanding my wobblier moments… you dealt with things perfectly. I also would like to mention that because of Red Bubble, the following wonderful things have happened to me in the last year and a half since I became a member, and all of them happened because i was ‘seen’ by others on Red Bubble, who since contacted me and contracted me… I realise that I forgot to mention previously, in my letter of thanks, that I have been afforded a number of opportunities because of my presence on Red Bubble.. 1. An art licensing agent in the USA discovered me and signed me up for a 2 year contract 2. A lingerie company in the UK asked me to design art for their start up 3. A company in the USA contracted me to create 5 designs for a children’s entertainment business that might go global 4. Through the art licensing agent I was contracted for 2 years by one of the largest mobile phone companies in the USA FunMobility to have 8 of my designs resold as wallpapers 5. I was made aware of a competition conducted through Creative Mums online website and my entry Madonna and Child was one of the chosen entries, in under 4 months, this artwork received almost 6,000 views 6. I have sold many of my works and received respect in my community 7. I have a contract with a company in China who are manufacturing prints for retail outlets using one of my designs 8. My work is appearing on thousands of reggae party posters and brochures coming up in September, October, November in Denmark through a deal with someone I met through Red Bubble (not a member) 8. I have met many new friends and contacts, including Frozenfa who is a member here at Red Bubble, without her support I doubt I would still be a member as she bouyed me when I was down, encouraged me to hang in there when times were low and sales were less than abundant, Fa now sells her work and my work together at markets in Singapore, such a friend and support she has been, that words seem inadequate… My huge thanks will always go out to muscularteeth who I adopted as a brother, and what a dear friend he turned out to be… I would not have continued on RB without the support of people like him and Fa… even tho RB is a wonderful place to be, it’s the special people, the characters I identify with here, are what makes this place…. the staff, the admin….not just this thing called RB… for without the love, it would be nothing. 9. Griffith University used one of my paintings Baby Bull Production in their periodical, they found my work on Red Bubble and emailed me, we talked on the phone, and it was another great opportunity for me, for which I’m very grateful 10. I’ve met the likes of iAN Derrick, Matt Mawson and his lovely sister, ginnymac, my dear friend natsky, Vicki Ferrrari, drec, etc in person and I learned that the members of red bubble are living, breathing, real people and it’s wonderful to know them and feel encouraged by them (forgive me if we’ve met and i haven’t mentioned you, but I feel like I’ve met you all in a funny way :) 11. 2008 my CHUNKIES were featured online at Thunderchunky 12. I’ve learned to understand that there are many different ways to look at things, many different talented people under the sun, and i am content and happy to be just one of them, that goes to making this whole creative world spin ‘round. There have been so many of you that have helped me, that have loved me through thick and thin…and believe me, i am very thick at times … what can I say to you all…each and every single one of you knows that special contact we have had…those special words of encouragement like blessings that we have spoken over one another, those difficult times we have shared….. and there are too many of you to mention here, my soul feels full of goodwill toward you all and I cannot thank you enough for showing me that there is kindness, love, thoughtfulness, unselfishness here, as far as the eye can see, as strong as the heart can beat, and that you all went far beyond my expectations. It was a cold December night in Missouri; I felt like I was the only one still breathing. My only company was the whispers of ghosts in my head. I had forgotten how to feel anything other than remorse. Grief had implanted itself into my feet and slowly wound itself around every other part of my being, choking out any possibility for other feelings. You see, I was losing myself. I am a needed person – mother of 3, with a group of family and friends that look to me for many things. By day I had to be the mother, friend, and sister that I always was. I had no choice but to get out of bed and do what I had to do; much like the lonely lamp post at the end of my street, it comes on every night at dusk, whether it wants to or not. Nobody asks if it wants to shine – they expect it and so shine it does. Inside of myself I was bleeding pain. You see, in November of 2008 I lost one of the most important people in my life. Her name is Hillarie, she was only 19, and she was my beautiful niece. We were closer than a typical aunt/niece relationship, as she spent much of her life with me. Hillarie was diagnosed with a heart problem when she was 1 ½ years old. We were told she wouldn’t have a long life, as her condition was extremely rare. When she was 6 she had a pacemaker installed. When she was 9 we received the greatest gift of all – a new heart. I say ‘we’ because while the heart was to keep her going, she kept us going. Experiences like this make you see life in a different way. It makes you much more sensitive to the little things that make life so wonderful. But with time, you take it for granted that person will be there. It is hard for your mind to accept there isn’t a ‘tomorrow’. We had so many tomorrows. Hillarie grew into a beautiful, creative young woman wise beyond her years. But last fall we received terrible news; Hillarie was in rejection. Long story short, after a few months of declining health and way of life, we lost her. Somehow, with all this history, the loss was still unexpected. She had been in rejection before and came out of it. In fact, this was her history, to beat the odds. I wanted to believe this would be the case again. But she was tired this time. She told her friend in secret that she was ready to go. Knowing this, afterwards, killed me – especially knowing that she knew… and that she didn’t tell me. On that cold December night, I was plundering the internet looking for anything to quiet my mind. It was more of a perfunctory experience than anything else. I came across some digital art that blew me away and I had to see more of this artists work. He had a link to his RedBubble portfolio. This moment was the lifejacket that kept me from drowning. I have been experiencing RedBubble for almost a year now. I can honestly say that RedBubble has had a profound impact on my life and changed me in many ways. There is a significant piece of me that was resurrected because of my experience here; I found the parts of me that had disappeared. Along the way I also found bits and pieces that I had lost years before from neglecting myself. You see, I wrote my first poem when I was 6 years old. While it wasn’t an Emily Dickinson, writing has been an essential part of who I am since I can remember. Despite this, being a working mom took its toll – I hadn’t written in 5 years at all, and the 5 years prior to that were somewhat bulimic…. Periods of a few days trying to write months worth of thoughts down on paper to make up for the many months of not writing at all. While I will always have a hole in my heart with Hillarie’s name on it, finding the Bubble reminded me of the beauty in life and that it’s my responsibility to do and see as much as possible for both her and my own children. I decided to journal this as a preface for the next scribblings I’ll be sharing. I plan on writing regularly to share with you things and people on the Bubble that inspire me. I want my fellow Bubblers to understand how profoundly their art and their friendship have affected me. This isn’t just a place to come and spend some time looking at pretty things. My soul has grown and I have sprouted wings from the community that resides here. I have a thankful heart, and I feel much appreciation for the gifts I have been given, the resources that have allowed my ache to be soothed, and the outlet provided to spill my ink and share my thoughts. For those who haven’t, this is the inspiring love tale that just goes to show that two people can find love in the most extraordinary circumstances! / Claire and I met on Red Bubble in April, 2009. / I was the host of 1 On 1: The Fine Art Of Portraiture at the time, and Claire submitted her painting Robert Bray 2006 and I accepted it and, rightly so, praised it. / She in turn viewed my profile and saw something in my eyes that she felt strangely drawn to. / She praised a lot of my work and eventually sent me a bubblemail asking for tips. / She looked cute in her picture, so I started flirting with her innocently, thinking there was absolutely no chance because she lived in the UK, 10,000 miles away! / We bubblemailed each other more and more frequently, chatting about artsy stuff for a while, then began to realise we thought the same way, and had the same dreams and viewpoints. We exchanged personal email addresses. / It wasn’t long before we started including more personal topics in our emails, and the emails became larger and more frequent. / We were emailing each other on a daily basis, sometimes 3 or 4 seperate emails a day, falling in love, digitally. / We had seen only a few photos of each other (well she saw more of me as I whore myself on MySpace and facebook lol) but we fell in love with each other’s hearts and minds. / She sent me an email one day saying she had a crazy idea, to quit her job, come up with 500 pounds and fly 10 000 miles to come and stay with me for a month. / I thought it was crazy, but I was just as curious, so I agreed. / We waited three weeks before the big day, all the while the love getting deeper and stronger, and the emails getting longer. / She arrived here in Adelaide on May 30th, and we instantly got along like a house on fire. / She instictively knew i was the one, but I needed a bit more convincing than her. Within a week I fell hard for her, and we absolutely rocked the whole universe off it’s axis! / I now knew she was the one I was meant to spend my life with so proposed to her on 21st of June, and she said yes! / so a couple of weeks later her restricted time in Australia drew to a close, but we tearfully parted as she went back to England with a purpose this time – to apply for a prospective marriage visa to move to Adelaide. / We gathered testimonies from relatives and friends, borrowed thousands of dollars, and sent the application off while we waited on opposite ends of the globe. / The wait was excruciating, we were in constant contact, 3 of 4 emails a day, text messages every waking hour, YouTube posts, and MSN video calls every day. / Claire finally got the email from immigration 10 weeks later saying it had been approved, and we were happier than we have ever been! / She arrived in mid September, to live! and we got married on October 31st which is the Australian version of Beltane, a Pagan time of celebration. / Several Red Bubblers attended, including: / Lynda Robinson / Julia Thomas / Topher Webb / Ross Aberlé / We have recently moved to an amazing house in a beautiful town on the outskirts of Adelaide, two doors down from the scrub, and a 3 minute walk to the beach :) / To all those who dont believe in long distance romance, internet romance, and love when you least expect it, to you I say BAH HUMBUG!!! / / / / / All Photos Courtesy of Julia Thomas
