We all need and hope for an angel to be watching over us, and this angel is especially for Christmas and the little one’s nursery. This one is so dear to my heart, and also especially designed for Christmas and the Calendars R Us Group Challenge for the next Christmas Calendar. I have been thinking about doing an angel for a long time, and finally this gave me the impetus to get moving on it. The brown paper is from a large roll of kraft, slathered with white gesso (acrylic paint) and handdrawn in pencil, then black felt pen…then coloured with colour pencil, chalk pastel, charcoal, and blended well….. later on, the design has been cut out in photoshop and a few extras applied to finish off…. A tshirt is available in this design also, and a children’s tee will soon be available through zazzle.

/ / A mixed media production on canvas textured paper, using ink, pastel, charcoal and acrylic paint. She’s my little senorita surfer girl…riding a wave – looks like she’s right out the back….and a little awkward…..she’s wearing a dress or a moo moo?....probably she’s a beginner …. maybe in a little Bay somewhere, perhaps it’s Byron Bay or Lennox Head…maybe it’s Burleigh Heads…not sure…but think this shot was taken in Australia somewhere…...ideas anyone? Maybe even WA? or is it Maui or Hawaii somewhere…kj may know…...who really knows :) i think she is a late starter like me…. but nevertheless determined to fly free and enjoy life…..to me it’s like she’s actually riding out to sea…on a big journey and a new adventure…. I’ll leave you to fill in the details… because of the colours, this has a bit of a christmas feel to it as well ….could make a good alternative christmas card :)

/ Paradise Penguin Family by Karin Taylor / a sweet design for children, a little family of penguins with some fishes Did you know that Feorran is a language of the Ross Group of the Antarctic Language Family. In Feorran a group of penguins is called Kekemi This little Kekemi are enjoying a swim in the icy waters of the antarctic…. / Little Kemi (def penguin) has found some fishy friends to play with!! This is another design from my other shop here on Red Bubble called Migaloomagic Shop / Today I needed to add it to my main profile here so I can place an order and avoid double postage. Many of you will already have seen this design before, so no need for you to comment :) Paradise Penguin Family would make a beautiful piece of wall art for a couple having a child, or for those with little ones. Would also be sweet for a christening or baptism .. or even Valentine’s Day! I also have a lovely 2009 Migaloomagic Calendar available, great for the kids! /
/ CHUNKIE Calendar Series One now available / Chunkies are a new series of figurines I am working on .. / / CHUNKIE Birthday Fairy / / CHUNKIE Owl / / CHUNKIE Lotus Love on Golden Pond / / CHUNKIE Mermaid / / CHUNKIE Sunshine / / CHUNKIE Forest / / CHUNKIE Party / / CHUNKIE Elephant / / CHUNKY Diver / / CHUNKY Indian / / CHUNKIE Surfer / / CHUNKIE Ballerina / / CHUNKIE Geisha / / CHUNKIES in love / / CHUNKIE Hula girl / / CHUNKIE China / / CHUNKIE Lollipop Lover / / CHUNKIE Forest / / CHUNKIE Party / / CHUNKIE Pirate / / CHUNKIE Mod Girl / / CHUNKIE Tooth Fairy / / CHUNKIE Mother and Child / / CHUNKIE Wedding Next in line is CHUNKIE Pirate….who has just arrived, anchored the boat and set foot on this little enchanted uninhabited tropical island… I don’t often do boys..but this one called for it….see his whiskas…sorry no wooden leg…but he does have an eye patch and a parrot…and you must be nice to him or he’ll make you walk the plank!!! CHUNKIE Pirate is made from plasticine/clay…...the boat is an origami brown paper boat I made from a template I found on the internet, and then I’ve coloured it in photoshop, applying stripes!!! The birds, palms, seastar and coloured stones are all taken from original paintings, one of the flags is made from plasticine and the other flag taken from a painting, other bits were created digitally, such as the sky…and the sand is a page from an ancient book i have in my bookcase at home…the pirate has a real earring made from pure silver and the anchor is black plasticine attached to the boat “The Seven Seas” with a silver ball chain…..he comes to you with open arms and hopes to brighten your day with his salty yarns from the high seas!! Once the Chunkies are created and photographed, I usually dismantle them to be used in the creation of more chunkies, so I am recycling the plasticine. These Chunkies have been very therapeutic to create over the holidays, whilst taking a break from red bubble and having my family around. I have many more to come, and although I won’t be on RB as much, I hope to also be doing some serious painting this year…so i look forward 2009 with much anticipation …
