Surrealism. In the course of every day life one is always confronted with having to make a choice about something. For every choice one makes, one must be prepared to pay the consequence. Adam and Eve had a choice. You can always think what the consequence may be in the land of Bryce. / © Dave Moilanen 2007

Dragon art. The old saying is true. Never judge a book by it’s cover. How many times during the course of life have you prejudged someone by their appearance without getting to know what makes them tick? Is it because they aren’t pleasing to your eyes or that they are different that they aren’t worth your time? / Here our friendly dragon is cooling off from the heat of the evening. These gentle giants never judge anyone and will always welcome you to get up close and personal in the land of Bryce. © 2008 Dave Moilanen

Surrealism. As the light of day slowly dims, do you ever take a moment and enjoy watching as God paints another masterpiece using the setting sun, the sky and the clouds? If you missed your chance in reality, you can always find tales within the twilight skies in the land of Bryce. / / © Dave Moilanen 2008

Took my wide angle lens and got close to this chipmunk at Bryce Canyon. I did not give him the peanut.
I don’t know what it is about this one, but it sticks in my mind.

Inspired by reading The Urantia Book / About life and things on planets hither and yon throughout creation. A favorite quote from the UB: / “Seek the greater thing, and the lesser will be found therein; ask for the heavenly, and the earthly shall be included. The shadow is certain to follow the substance.” // quoting a Divine Councelor from The Urantia Book, Page 1823 / _________ Designed using Bryce. / Note: This is the right-side version of this design. With a rim elevation between 8,000 to 9,100 feet, summer days are pleasant (80’s) and nights are cool (40’s). Afternoon thundershowers are common during mid to late summer, mornings bessing. Spring and Fall weather is highly variable with days of snow or days with strong sun and 70 degrees. Cold winter days are offset by high altitude sun and dry climate. /
This art work was inspired by a wonderful friend and wonderful artist, Kym Breeze. Kym once asked if you could describe your life as a song what would it be. The song “Better Days” by the Goo Goo Dolls always comes to mind for me. Thank you for the inspiration Kym, and may we all find better days. :-) Visit Kym’s Gallery: Kym Breeze / ____________ Better Days Video ______________________ BETTER DAYS And you ask me what I want this year / And I try to make this kind and clear / Just a chance that maybe we’ll find better days / Cuz I don’t need boxes wrapped in strings / And desire and love and empty things / Just a chance that maybe we’ll find better days So take these words / And sing out loud / Cuz everyone is forgiven now / Cuz tonight’s the night the world begins again And it’s someplace simple where we can live / And something only you can give / And thats faith and trust and peace while we’re alive / And the one poor child who saved this world / And there’s 10 million more who probably could / If we all just stopped and said a prayer for them So take these words / And sing out loud / Cuz everyone is forgiven now / Cuz tonight’s the night the world begins again I wish everyone was loved tonight / And somehow stop this endless fight / Just a chance that maybe we’ll find better days So take these words / And sing out loud / Cuz everyone is forgiven now / Cuz tonight’s the night the world begins again / Cuz tonight’s the night the world begins again GOO GOO DOLLS / © Dave Moilanen 2008
That doorway to the wonderful world of thought, inspiration and imagination. The place where fantasy becomes reality. Or are they one of the same? Find out for yourself as you pass through the gateway to your imagination in the land of Bryce. / / © Dave Moilanen 2008

Simplicity is not the goal. It is the by-product of a good idea and modest expectations. / ~Paul Rand
Scenic Byway 12 is one of the most scenic byways in the USA and has been for years. It starts at Red Canyon, just before Bryce Canyon and makes its way over Boulder Mountain and down into Capitol Reef National Park. As you head down the mountain, you will find a wonderland of trees dotting the hillsides and mountains such as colorful aspens, pines, spruce, and fir. The mid elevation provides pinyon pine and juniper. This photograph was taken near the Larb Hollow Overlook in the middle of the fall change. I have spent a great deal of time along this road and for anyone planning a trip, see some of the places to stop by and photograph below. Many of these little towns will have dirt or off roads which will lead you into canyons, slot canyons, and amazing back country scenery. For serious photographers you should plan on several days through this wilderness! Red Canyon – vermillion-colored rock formations and Ponderosa pines. / Cannonville – the gateway to Kodachrome Basin State Park. / Escalante – Devil’s Garden, Willow and Soda Gulch, and Hole-in-the-Rock. Keep a lookout for The Burr Trail, Hell’s Backbone, and Smokey Mountain roads. / Boulder – Anasazi Indian Village State Park and the Burr Trail Scenic Backway. / Larb Hollow Overlook – Waterpocket Fold in Capitol Reef National Park and the Henry Mountains. / Fish Lake National Forest – Fish Lake (don’t miss this lake!) / Capitol Reef National Park – bright colored cliffs, natural bridges, domes and stone arches, and the fruit orchards.
