Prince Rattus the important, returns to the old city to collect taxes from the citizens. Riding the dinosauric Munchasaur, he knew he would meet little resistance.

A horseman riding through the siq toward the imposing Treasury in the Nabatean ruins of Petra in Jordan. / A classic and timeless location but made unique by the appearance of the horseman in the shaft of light. (These guys ferry tourists who don’t want to walk through the siq) / The lost city was rediscovered in the mid 1800’s. / I only spent a couple of days here but the enormity of the location is astounding. There is so much archeological work to be done here – and so much still to be found – it will be a never ending quest.

“Praying for Rain” Photography & Artwork / by Holly Kempe © “As the farmer knelt down on the salty sand, / He needed rain to save his land. / The crops were wilting, the cattle all dead, / He looked around, not a word was said. / The ground was dry, where is the rain? / What could stop this worthless pain? / The farmer cursed in sheer despair, / He did not have a drop to spare. / A thundercloud covers the western sky, / A bolt of lightning explodes near by. / The farmer looks up and begins to pray, / Hoping that the rain will come his way. / Then drip-by-drip it starts to fall, / The crystal water like a clear glass wall. / The trees and flowers all in bloom, / Then once again, gone is the gloom. / The water fills the old parched creek, / The rivers bulge as the waters peak. / The mud squelches through the farmer’s dry old / hands, / As he thanks the Lord for saving his land.” / ~ Meg Hayes Year Seven / St Mary’s Primary School Praying for Rain was featured in the: Redbubble Homepage – November 08

“Shimmer” Photography & Artwork / by Holly Kempe © Sunrise at tropical Mission Beach in far north Queensland, Australia. The Australian Sunrise / “The Morning Star paled slowly, the Cross hung / low to the sea, / And down the shadowy reaches the tide came / swirling free, / The lustrous purple blackness of the soft / Australian night, / Waned in the grey awakening that heralded / the light; / Still in the dying darkness, still in the forest dim, / The pearly dew of the dawning clung to each / giant limb, / Till the sun came up from ocean, red with the / cold sea mist, / And smote on the limestone ridges, and the / shining tree-tops kissed; / Then the fiery Scorpion vanished, the magpie’s / note was heard, And the wind in the sheoak / wavered and the honeysuckles stirred; / The airy golden vapour rose from the river breast, / The kingfisher came darting out of his / crannied nest, / And the bullrushes and reed-beds put off their / sallow grey / And burnt with cloudy crimson at the dawning / of the day.” / ~James Lister Cuthbertson
I was fortunate enough to travel to Italy when I was 19, this was taken as just a naive snap happy photo on my dodgy old-school camera and I’ve cleaned it up and added some oomph in photoshop. (It’s better if you click on the image to see a larger view)

On this bridge as a boy scout I saw a ghost, from then it became special, almost ethereal in my eyes. The sight of such an unexplained event inspires and triggers the imagination of a young boy to life. I still look at this bridge and wonder which realm the spirit came from and what secrets are held in every arch and brick of this unique structure. In the soft early morning light, the reflections shimmer on the water like ripples through time, stirring the souls of those who have passed over the bridge, and passed across dimensions. This is not just a bridge over a piece of water it is a bridge which spans time, space and maybe spirituality, to me it is the bridge of faith and belief, a bridge of discovery and imagination, a bridge of light and life, a true contender for the most beautiful bridge in the world. To me it is already a winner, it moved and inspired me it helped to make me what I am today, what I believe and what I feel. Alance Bridge this is my entry as the most Beautiful Bridge in the world.
I loved the colour and texture of this old suitcase that I spotted in Bo’Ness Railway station in Scotland. Bo’Ness is a small town on the banks of the River Forth which is home to a very well preserved steam railway. The old station has been extremely well preserved as an early 20th century train station. This photograph won 1st prize in Stirling and District Camera Club’s Annual Print competition for 2008.

And then the arrival on the Jungfraujoch, in the heart of a glorious glacier world on the very roof of Europe! Superb views extend as far as the summits of the Vosges Mountains in France and the Black Forest in Germany. The Great Aletsch Glacier, at 22 km the longest ice-stream in the Alps, begins on the Jungfraujoch-Top of Europe.
