Some might see the morning fog as a shroud of grey that settles in their soul and stays with them even when the sun breaks through to warm their skin. / Others see the fog as a beautiful mist that opens up to reveal the brightness of life and a reason to feel good about the outside…on the inside. / by Annette Hansen —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-— / Taken at Gympie, Queensland Thank you to RedBubble for featuring Veil of Mystery on the 29th December and the Trees Group for making it part of their June Gallery.

The storms may come and limbs may break; / Yet others bend beneath the weight— / Of heavy rain and windy breeze… / A storm can mark the strongest trees. —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-——- / Taken at Mackay, Queensland. “Drought Breaker “ / As the farmer knelt down on the salty sand, / He needed rain to save his land. / The crops were wilting, the cattle all dead, / He looked around, not a word was said. The ground was dry, where is the rain? / What could stop this worthless pain? / The farmer cursed in sheer despair, / He did not have a drop to spare. A thundercloud covers the western sky, / A bolt of lightning explodes near by. / The farmer looks up and begins to pray, / Hoping that the rain will come his way. Then drip-by-drip it starts to fall, / The crystal water like a clear glass wall. / The trees and flowers all in bloom, / Then once again, gone is the gloom. The water fills the old parched creek, / The rivers bulge as the waters peak. / The mud squelches through the farmer’s dry old hands, / As he thanks the Lord for saving his land. / / By Meg Hayes Year Seven / St Mary’s Primary School / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / / Taken at Silverton, New South Wales / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-——-

Friday August 3rd It happened again tonight. The old fool had left the door unlocked; and there, above the cages, some apparently empty and some housing pink-eyed rodents; stood the vessel containing the precious green liquid and marked with the words: “NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION” once more, at my disposal. Thanks to yesterday’s acquisition of a rather splendid pocketwatch, I have been able to establish that administration of about 2floz of the serum is sufficient to remain effective for approximately two hours. I have thus resolved that, weather permitting, tomorrow’s edification will begin with the short trip into town whereupon I will partake in what will no doubt be another fruitful bout of “shopping”, after which with any luck, there will be ample time for a spot of inexpensive dining followed by a close inspection of the ample figures belonging to those delightful ladies up there at Pedlar’s Lane bathhouse, whom I understand, usually prefer to keep themselves hidden away from prying eyes. Dash it… Awfully sorry ladies!

I was visiting with my aunt and uncle, the family gathered, waiting to attend funeral services for a beloved uncle that has passed away. The night before we did our best to enjoy each other’s company and joke around like we usually do, but mostly we were just trying to get through the night so we could say our goodbyes in the morning. I saw these antique children’s chairs that my aunt had and decided to spend some time taking photos of them to get my mind off of things. I brought the chair out to the garage so that the smooth, rich wood would be in stark contrast to the rough, stained concrete floor. A running theme throughout my photography is viewing objects from new perspectives, so as I stood on a ladder that I found and tried taking photographs without falling, my uncle walked by and laughed at me. “You’re taking a picture of a chair?” he said. I told him “You just wait – this will be a masterpiece!” but I am pretty sure he didn’t believe me. The photograph turned out exactly the way I had envisoned, a sense of being in a room but high above it like an omnipotent source, alone, expecting someone to be there who isn’t, a bit of a faded memory. This fine art piece hangs on my own wall, and I smile when I see it for it is a reminder of the family I love.

Fields Of Strength / by Marie Paradise / / Whenever my journey gets hard to bear / To fields I go to meet You there. The Holy psalms I shall recount / My horse of courage I shall mount. My journey through this land gets longer / My hunger for Your home gets stronger. When hills to climb get only steeper / My love for You gets only deeper. I shall not stray nor lose my course / With rein in hand, I’ll guide my horse / To fields of good and plenty be / These fields, the ones You promised me / Are void of enemies and grief. / These fields supply me with relief. I mount my horse, I’m on my way / And in Your fields, My Lord, I’ll stay. / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-- / / / Taken early one misty morning at Miriamvale, Queensland / -—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-
