weeeheeee I can now add, sold from gallery26! lucky lady, Talia is the new proud owner! rainbow stripes / merge to Rob ‘the guy’ clements / and also “emerge” ( a variation) to Theresa, Rob’s lady and now in 2008 summer flow dots / as well as recent painting (image to come) / from the last exhibition at North Sydney / More sold than I’d ever imagined, so I thought I share what did sell with all and sundry! fish / / (it was a different version, on two canvases, but did I take a photo of it? nope-forgot!...another small yellow landscape also sold which I don’t have a photo of…) / and commissioned paintings sold(for someone on a tight budget!) all three together / yoga star (also a t-shirt) / and earlier this year, dandelion / the irony is, I always think people like light coloured work, because they’re easy to live with-but I love the bright stuff…and everyone who’s bought my art also seems to! update, update! from north sydney-3more to add! the red / the blue / and the brown, which is the same as the blue. There you go! 10 from the north sydney show. How wonderful. It really made my day! ( I heard yesterday!) Life gets better everyday!

Floating in to Red Bubble to say Hello: a pencil portrait of a Brown-spotted wrasse of Western Australia seen here ensnared within his favorite dream…imported from my Dreamyfish Art collection of botanical fish portraits. Saturn = realism/form (botanical drawings as best i can render them) + Neptune = imaginary~visionary art (dream scenarios) and King of the Seas (and all the little fishies that swim in them!) This project happily fulfills my natal Sun in Capricorn (ruled by Saturn) ~ Moon in Pisces (ruled by Jupiter, co-ruler Neptune) and as you know, Pisces is the sign of the Two Fishes. Save Our Oceans!
It is early love, / and before we put the day away, / come here, / clasp my hands in yours and look at me, / lets look at each other / what is…

This is a close up of the caudal fin of ex-Cichlasoma Pearsei. The fish itself is 15” in length. As you might imagine the size of the caudal fin is rater large. What makes it unique…at least in comparison to if it was in the wild…is the tiny filament extensions on the tips of the fin. Protected in her own aquarium these extensions can occur. In the wild, while not impossible, it is less likely due to interaction with other fish, breeding, etc. The Photo was taken with a Nikon D300 and a 105 mm Macro VR lens. I shot this with a very slow (LO-1) ISO and a very high aperture (f29) to get the detail and color. The shutter speed was also high (1/250) I used three Nikon SB-800 flash units all set to double light output.
This little Brown was taken with a fly I tied during the winter. / While fishing in Central New Mexico, Rio Las Vacas. / It is great to catch & Release.

I’ve kept cichlid fish for close to thirty years. Of all my fish this is one…or at least part of one…of my favorite fish. I don’t name many of my fish. This one I did. I called him Jumbo…and he was like a dog with fins. Very interactive with anyone who happened to look in his tank. This particular shot shows some of the beautiful texture in the pattern and design. The scientific name of the fish is Parachromis managuense. The common name is either Jaguar or Aztec cichlid. Jumbo passed away last years after 13 years. When he died he was 16 inches in length. I know it’s hard for some to believe that you can get attached to a fish. But when he passed it was like loosing a friend. Thank heavens for all of the photos I’ve taken of him over the years. Here’s one of my favorites…showcasing some of his real beauty. The photo was taken with a Nikon D3 and Nikkor 55mm lens. I used two Nikon SB-800 flash units without diffusion to get some of the detail.
This is a photo of Hericthys labridens. I caught the fish in a unique pose. I used a filter to get the lattice type effect.
This is a variation on another photo in my collection on this site. I did some photo shop work with a filter to get the effect.
This is a photo of Hericthys labridens…with a touch of Photo Shop magic. The photo itself was taken with a Nikon D300 and a 105mm Nikkor lens. I used two Nikon SB-800 flash units…one above and one below. To get the pose i simply put a piece of food at the top of the tank and waited for the fish to go for it.
Another shot in my current collection tweaked in Photo Shop.
Variation done in Photo Shop of an already beautiful Central American cichlid, Paratheraps Pearsei. I’ve been experimenting with a set of Redfield plugins for PS and really enjoying the effects. I have several more that I will be adding over the next day or so. The photo itself was taken with a Nikon D300 and a Nikkor zoom lens at 80mm. I used two Nikon SB-800 flash units…one above and one below.
A modified shot of ex-Cichlasoma pearsei…a beautiful Central American cichlid. Her normal beautiful coloration was modified with some tweaking in Photoshop. The one thing I left alone was the shot of her beautiful blue eye. The original photo was taken with a Nikon D300 and a Nikkor 105mm macro lens. I used two SB-800 flash units and a reflector.
Another shot of one of my favorite pets from the past. This is Parachromis managuense,...the Jaguar cichlid…the Aztec cichlid. This fish was close to 16” when he passed away at thirteen. I took the photo with Nikon D3 and 55mm lens. I used a Redfield filter along with some additional work in Photoshop to get the effect.
