I thought this Pelican looked like he was telling about the huge fish that got away..lol / Taken at the Ocean Springs Harbor in the morning /
I’ve been on a mission to conquer the abstract-a true measure of an artist, I think, as there is no ‘reality’ to compare it too, no likeness to draw close to. Just you. You decide to continue, or when to stop. When to use the ‘f’ word-as we used to tease our sculpture teacher>there is no such thing as ‘finished’. I think there is. the energy passes-it’s time-if you go over, it become overworked and pushed, forced. And therein lies the art.

I took this picture a couple of years ago at the beach of Marina di Grosseto, Tuscany, Italy. / This is a fine example I think of how a fisheye lens can completely change the feeling of an ordinary scene. The subject is simply some surf on the seashore, captured from a distance of not more than a foot. / The original picture is a Fuji Velvia 50 Iso medium format slide. Hope you enjoy it, thanks for dropping by. Paolo

Painted from an 1880’s photo, of the fishing port of Whitby on the North East coast of England. Here, laid up, is the collier brig, ‘Opal’. The ruins of the priory, immortalised by Bram Stoker’s Dracula, can be seen on the hill. My first pen and watercolour work. Watercolour washes over a pencil drawing, then finished in ink. Hannemuhle, 200lb paper 7”x 8”.
The North Sea at Whitby. The Herring boats at misty dawn, / To get the details of the boats correct, I’ve used a Victorian photo as the subject. I liked the very hard pen ink lines of the foreground, contrasting with the soft, misty, wet-in-wet background. 90 lb watercolour, medium rough paper. / 12”x8”
This is a painting by my friend, Maria Hawthorne. / Maria has been painting occcaisionally since childhood, but has not painted for many years. It was painted at my suggestion, from the book of old sailing ship photos, which I am currently working from. A drifter and topsail schooner, lie in the mud in old Whitby. / The ruins of the priory are on the distant hill Watercolour 12”x8”.
Well I wish, I was a catfish / Swimin in the, the deep blue sea / I have all you pretty women / Fishin after me / -Elmore James

Straight from camera…..... The Eurasian brown bear has brown fur, which can shift from yellow-brownish to dark brown, red brown, and almost black in some cases. The fur is dense to varying degree and the hair can grow up to 10 cm in length. The shape of the head is normally quite round with relatively small and round ears, a wide skull and a mouth equipped with 42 teeth, including predatory teeth. It has a powerful bone structure, large paws, equipped with big claws, which can grow up to 10 cm in length. The weight varies depending on habitat and time of the year. The bears east of Ural have to a larger extent brighter and more reddish colors. The Asian bears also seem to be more aggressive than the European bears. A declining species…......
