A few minutes later, we were greeted by this view coming over the hill accompanied by the thundering of hooves. They ran to us and we were surrounded by friendly, snuffling horses.

  • MY FAVORITE COUNTRY ROAD / Best viewed large. / / / / “MY FAVORITE COUNTRY ROAD” was featured in the group COUNTRY ROADS/AROUND THE WORLD / / / / “MY FAVORITE COUNTRY ROAD” was featured in the group NATURAL COLOR AND LIGHT / / / This is a recent photo of my favorite country road! It is located in Flatwoods, Kentucky, in Greenup County, which lies in the northeastern part of the bluegrass state. Many of my relatives live in or just outside of Flatwoods, and my Dad built this one. / / The scenery from this road is almost surreal, it is so beautiful. Surrounding this road are country farms, barns and old churches. This road winds around a gorgeous mountain cloaked with a variety of lush trees and evergreens, whose leaves are radiant in the Fall of the year with brilliant shades of yellow, orange, red, brown and green. / / At the top of the mountain is the end of this magnificent road, which leads to a private, gated mansion that overlooks the entire county. It is very quiet and peaceful there, and everything, including time, seems to stand still on this beautiful road. It is a breath-taking view from the very top, and this is truly my favorite country road!.. / / / To read and learn more about this special country road, / go to:COUNTRY ROAD

Children sweetly laughed into my hair, / Sticky hands with fresh straw to stuff. / Vintage clothes & buttons bound me now, / Soft cotton flannel is plenty warm enough. I may be made to look scary to a bird, / But really, aren’t I quite nice and smart? / Take this leather gloved hand to hold, / I am not fake, this body has a heart. Dorothy knew me, that courageous Lion too. / So, see my face and know I feel, / for in the mind of a child… / I become real. • “A Boab Sunrise” Photography & Artwork / by Holly Kempe © Sony a100 camera / Photoshop CS4 artwork The Australian Aboriginal legend of the Boab Tree (or Bottle Tree): “When the tree God created the Boab Tree it was to be the most beautiful of all trees in the universe, with the most beautiful flowers and bearing the juiciest fruit. But as the tree grew to maturity its flowers were mediocre and its fruit had a bad odour and tasted vile. The Tree God became so angry that he yanked the Boab out of the ground and slammed it back in the earth upside down and that is why today, when you see a Boab tree, it looks as if its roots are growing up in the air.” Thangool, Queensland A Boab Sunrise was featured in the: Trees group – Sept 09 Image Writing group – Sept 09 Queensland group – Sept 09 Inspired Art group – Oct 09
