/ Following are the lyrics to the song Turn, Turn, Turn This group was a huge influence on me as a little girl. I adored Judith Durham and her beautiful voice and spirit. I seemed to identify with her, and they were the first group I remember loving….other songs I loved from The Seekers which would take me into a beautiful place, “I’ll Never Find Another You”, “A World of Our Own”, “The Carnival Is Over”, “Morningtown Ride”, “Georgy Girl” ),and “Emerald City” Turn! I was going to leave ‘Seasons’ open to your own interpretation, but painting this pic brought back memories of ‘The Seekers’ singing ‘There is a Season….turn, turn, turn…’. If you look closely, you can see the handwritten bible verse in tiny writing around the heads of the three :D Instead of leaving it open for interpretation, as I’m submitting this to The Healing Journey forum for a music/art competition, I will try to explain what the image depicts. This is my family and I am the hands, although the hands also represent God. The boat is a metaphor for our journey through life, and the waters are somewhat turbulent beneath, my family is being supported by myself at great cost sometimes to me personally and God is also supporting…if you like, imagine it is God’s hands super-imposed over my hands, so that I have strength to do what I am called to do, imparting a protective and nurturing boundary around my beautiful family…..making home a sanctuary, and a safe place, it is a labour of love and the weight of carrying and nurturing can be extremely heavy sometimes, but also very rewarding. There is my daughter, my son, and my husband in the boat…and the symbol of the greek cross on the vessel indicates that my family belong to Christ, and we will be Conquerors in this life and in the next, as we pass through all of life’s testing and difficulty, we will be made stronger and have our characters’ hewn and shaped, and wisdom will come as a result. Bonded together through adversity, trial, separation and togetherness, we will learn how to work together as a team to achieve harmony, joy and satisfaction…we will support one another when life’s journey becomes all too hard and we want to give up…then there will be one of us to support the one who is down….and this will be reciprocated later when the other is down….. instead of destroying one another, we will build each other up, and make each other stronger for the fight, for the journey….we will encourage one another all the more when we are failing and losing sight of our goals….we will not give up on one another…and even if the world is not interested in us, we will be interested in one another, and remember one another in prayer and thought and spirit and heart. We will cheer one another one to be courageous and to persevere, no matter life’s challenges. And through each of the seasons of life, birth, death, life, healing, laughing, dancing, moving, scattering, gathering, giving up, giving voice, mending, loving, hating, mourning…..we will stick together and support one another. The symbol is The Greek Cross which is complemented with the first and last letters of the Greek name for Jesus (IC), the first and last letters of the Greek word for Christ (XC) and the Greek word for Conqueror (NIKA). The short bars above the letters indicate that they are abbreviations. ‘There is a time for everything, / and a season for every activity under heaven: / a time to be born and a time to die, / a time to plant and a time to uproot, / a time to kill and a time to heal, / a time to tear down and a time to build, / a time to weep and a time to laugh, / a time to mourn and a time to dance, / a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, / a time to embrace and a time to refrain, / a time to search and a time to give up, / a time to keep and a time to throw away, / a time to tear and a time to mend, / a time to be silent and a time to speak, / a time to love and a time to hate, / a time for war and a time for peace. – Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

It’s not everyday you get to see a species known for its ferocity, showing tenderness instead. These are two Lion brothers (captivity) who had spent most of the morning playfully teasing each other before they sat down to…well….no other word for it – “cuddle”. This was the only shot I got that worked as they were partially obscured by a toy in their enclosure. On review I was very lucky, not only was there a beautiful symmetry in the lions’ head positions, but both eyes were closed in the ‘moment’ as well. The image has been edited for a more dramatic effect and to perfectly isolate the two animals and their experience. from a 4 month old fraternal twin session… honestly, I couldn’t believe we got them to BOTH sleep… I had them sitting in a large galvanized tin propped up… this was just a close up I couldn’t resist with new sony alpha a900 and my 50mm f/1.4 ;-)

My entry for the London Calling challenge. I found this difficult as I’ve never been to London to get a real ‘feel’ for the place, but here’s my two-cents worth: I have given a big nod towards graffiti/street art with the general style of the piece (line work, spray marks and drips) the London skyline gets a look in I couldn’t resist the CCTV camera robot (paranoid android?) with London having over 100 000 cameras throughout the city and finally I’ve included a large rain cloud in reference to the grey, overcast and generally miserable weather. I can’t decide on a colour – according to the challenge we should have one colour option for the shirt – so feel free to let me know what colour you think works best :) Detail: /

WILD & FREE / / Polar bear cubs cuddle-up with each other on an ice floe. What a great sight to see! The sea ice is shrinking at an alarming rate, which has a huge impact for the bears as this is their main hunting ground. More and more bears are being found to have drowned while trying to find the ice, even though they can swim up to sixty miles or so! / / I hope the ice does not completely vanish and that they always have somewhere to hut! This is my little brother. He recently had brain sugery to remove a cyst in his brain… this was taken just before the operation… the hope in his eyes is really inspiring it seems the operation has changed a little but not much… we all still hold hope that he will be able to attend high school next year and not have to be home schooled … this photo is dedicated to his struggle.

I know that in an artistic sense this is quite simple, however to me it has great meaning. The image is of my two boys who are also the best of friends. They have an unbreakable bond and here, they are doing something they love; just being together.
