The infrared medium gives this small creek a dramatic effect. Taken on a hot Queensland summer day.

This intimate, bright yet dark, static yet flowing, autumn themed image was made in Baxter State Park, Maine, USA in October 2006. I like the contrast of the flowing water beneath the still branches, the pop of color from the remaining birch leaves, and the juxtaposition of the branch atop the stream in tone and color! /

Mussel Pool is part of the Bennett Brook, which originates from a superficial ground water aquifer. It is home to a wide variety of species, such as tortoises, gilgie, western minow and these magical melaleucas. I thought the contrast was a little harsh on the original version of this work, so I’ve softened the colour by adjusting the balance, and I’ve also added photographic filters. This image was taken early this year while walking along Markeaton Canal. Hope you like the updated version! Thanks, Jen :-) Photography and editing by Jennifer Woodward © 2008

Cross the river, head left towards the gate ….. an extract from my walkers guide book ….. no mention of the stunning beauty just here ….. I had to pause and drink it all in ….... An orange under-painting of trees in bog. this was an expansion of a tiny picture i found i a national geographic. I really just want to be there climbing trees and swiming with friends. so i panted it bigger with more texture to make it feel more real.
Another of my Watercolours I was happy with. Migrating from Oils to Watercolours is hard as I find Watercolours so permanent. At least in Oils you can fix up and fix up… and fix up. Mind you Watercolours are much quicker so you can always start again. Plus clean up is even better! Painted a couple of years ago so unclear of paper, but my guess is that it was a Medium grain 190gsm Plus I have now put together a Calendar of a few of my favourite works / :

Deep into Buttermilk Falls State Park lies this incredibly beautiful destination. Stunning deep colors, falling leaves from the trees, and the sun peaking its way thru every now and again. True bliss! Ithaca NY’s finest. Nikon D90 /
BigD I am sure you will appreciate this one. This is a shot up the base of Lucifer’s Falls in Robert Treman State Park in Ithaca NY. My left side was getting quite soaked standing on the smallest rock trying to get this shot. Every now adn again I had to wipe off my lens from over spray. Lucky for me it wasnt windy this day otherwise I would not have had a shot at all. It is so cool being jsut an inch or two literally form the the main flow of this massive waterfall. Nikon D90 Broken tripod leg….$85 / Bandaid for cut on leg after slipping on rock into waist high water…..$0.25 / Dropping lens cleaning fabric into fast moving stream…..$5 / Getting the “Shot”.....priceless / /

It was getting very late and I was rushing to get out of the forest before dark… but, I just had to stop to get this shot! This is one of the small tributaries feeding into Jacoby Run in the Tiadaghton State Forest. The water you see here is on its way to Wallis Run and then to the Loyalsock Creek and eventually into the Susquehanna River in north central Pennsylvania. Just a note: Anything that finds its way into this pristine little stream will eventually be found in the Chesapeake Bay, and ultimately, in the Atlantic Ocean. This simple fact is just something that everyone should keep in mind as we live our daily lives. The photo was taken on Sunday, November 1st, about a mile away from Wallis Run Road along the Jacoby Falls hiking trail. The nearest town is Loyalsockville, Pennsylvania. The photo was captured using a Canon EOS 10D DSLR camera body fitted with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens, zoomed to its widest focal length of 17mm. The shutter speed was 1 full second at f/8. The camera’s ISO was set to 100. A manfrotto tripod was used, with a remote shutter release cable. Your comments are always welcome! 2008 spray painting on 11” x 14” white glossy poster board,, no paint brushes are used, just items around the house too create textures and details,, this is hours of layers and drying time, may look juvenile to some but keep in mind my tools are nails, toothpicks, crumpled papers, torn cardboard pieces,, and in this one the footprints are my pinky finger pressed in the wet paint to create the illusion.. / “walk” / “walk”
