This intimate, bright yet dark, static yet flowing, autumn themed image was made in Baxter State Park, Maine, USA in October 2006. I like the contrast of the flowing water beneath the still branches, the pop of color from the remaining birch leaves, and the juxtaposition of the branch atop the stream in tone and color! /

I thought the contrast was a little harsh on the original version of this work, so I’ve softened the colour by adjusting the balance, and I’ve also added photographic filters. An orange under-painting of trees in bog. this was an expansion of a tiny picture i found i a national geographic. I really just want to be there climbing trees and swiming with friends. so i panted it bigger with more texture to make it feel more real.

Another of my Watercolours I was happy with. Migrating from Oils to Watercolours is hard as I find Watercolours so permanent. At least in Oils you can fix up and fix up… and fix up. Mind you Watercolours are much quicker so you can always start again. Plus clean up is even better! Painted a couple of years ago so unclear of paper, but my guess is that it was a Medium grain 190gsm

BigD I am sure you will appreciate this one. This is a shot up the base of Lucifer’s Falls in Robert Treman State Park in Ithaca NY. My left side was getting quite soaked standing on the smallest rock trying to get this shot. Every now adn again I had to wipe off my lens from over spray. Lucky for me it wasnt windy this day otherwise I would not have had a shot at all. It is so cool being jsut an inch or two literally form the the main flow of this massive waterfall. Nikon D90 Broken tripod leg….$85 / Bandaid for cut on leg after slipping on rock into waist high water…..$0.25 / Dropping lens cleaning fabric into fast moving stream…..$5 / Getting the “Shot”.....priceless / /
