Again in CS3 and the Omni light filter, this one was just using the blue filter. / Film photo taken in 2005 of the Ring of Brodgar on the Orkney Isles, just off the coast of Scotland.
One of the photos already uploaded but treated this time with the Orton effect. The Ring of Brodgar, a wonderful set of monolithic stones are found on the Orkney Isles, reached by ferry from the coast of Scoltand. Film photo treated with Orton Featured in Shetland and Orkneys Group

Trying out different things in photoshop and this time I tried selective colouring, still being relatively new to this interesting change. The photo is of the Ring of Brodgar on the lovely Orkney Islands just off the cost of Scotland. The photo was taken on film in 2005 and scanned, then desaturated and the history brush applied to the one upright stone. Camera:Minolta 110 zoom film (compact) Featured in Shetland, but also Orkneys Group

Decided to play around with Omni lights in CS3 again today, and picked the Ring of Brodgar for the subject. Brodgar is on the Orkney Isles off the coast of Scotland. The original photo is film taken in 2005.
My favourite of all of the photos I took of this fabulous stone circle on the Orkney Isles. Also known as the Orcadian Stones.. / The Ring has an area of 90,790 square feet (8,435 sq.m.). It is situated on a neck of land between the lochs Stenness and Harray. The circle has 36 stones remaining of an original 60 and the tallest still standing is approx. 15ft in height. There are carvings on some of the stones. We found the whole area quite fascinating as depending on which way we faced, the view was either very dark and broody or full of light. / Taken on film and scanned. / Camera:Minolta 101 zoom – partial zoom Featured in Photography 101 Group / featured in Shetland and Orkneys Group
“The Ring of Brodgar is the finest known truly circular late Neolithic or early Bronze Age stone ring and a later expression of the spirit which gave rise to Maeshowe, Stenness and Skara Brae.” If one site has come to represent Orkney’s ancient heritage, it must surely be the Ring o’ Brodgar. Part of the Heart of Neolithic Orkney World Heritage Site, the Ring o’ Brodgar is found in the West Mainland parish of Stenness. It stands on a westward-sloping plateau on the Ness o’ Brodgar – a thin strip of land separating the Harray and Stenness lochs. Because the interior of the Ring o’ Brodgar has never been fully excavated or scientifically dated, the monument’s age remains uncertain. However, it is generally thought to have been erected between 2500 BC and 2000 BC, and was therefore the last of the great Neolithic monuments built on the Ness. The stone ring was built in a true circle, 104 metres wide, and originally contained 60 megaliths. Today, only 27 of these stones remain.

One of my favourite pre-historic sites anywhere. The enigmatic Ring of Brodgar on Mainland, Orkney.
A longer shot of the ring, which better conveys its scale and location.
Photograph, taken at Ring O’Brodgar, Stennes, an ancient historical site on this fabulous Island of Orkney.
This amazing circle of stones is in Orkney in Scotland. It’s said that you can feel the vibrations of the Ley Lines that the stones stand on if you’re sensitive to that sort of thing. It’s a beautiful place to be.
I love standing stones… this one is on the Orkney Islands called Ring o’ Brodgar.
If you ever get the chance go to Orkney it is like stepping back in time. A very wild and beautiful place.
