  • Taken at the new ferris wheel in Brisbane (now) last night.

  • Taken at Scarborough, QLD at sunset. I was hunting around for a spot with another photographer and we found this tree. Instantly we knew we had to stop here for the sunset.

  • Taken at Nudgee Beach in Qld this morning. This is a HDR image from 3 different RAW files.

  • Washed upon the ripples at Nudgee Beach. Plenty of these little guys about the place at the moment and are fantastic subjects to shoot.

  • Taken from my front lawn (well till Wednesday when we move) in Cannon Hill, Brisbane, Australia – this was the third massive storm in 3 days that has broken rainfall records in Brisbane for the most rainfall in November since 1981. The media claims it is the worst flooding since the infamous 1974 Brisbane flood – en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1974_Brisbane_flood Once the storm passed I headed out from my safe haven on the front deck to find this amazing cloud spewing out lightning. I was out shooting a spot in the area when I saw the storm coming in the distance, so I waited and got a few shots and then rain came. I managed to get past McDs on Wynnum Road into the industrial area to put the full beam on to see where I was headed. Just as I passed Cannon Hill station the hail started and I got in the garage just as it hammered down. I must thank the neighbours for the light trails.

  • Explore – Highest – Nov 20, 2008 #16 Another storm photo from Brisbane from last night (Nov 20th). The water laps up to the road almost at the moment. So to avoid getting fried, I decided to set the shutter on remote and get the right exposure. Then fire it and run out of the water to the car. This was taken shortly before a few drops of rain came. I knew then I had a few mins to get in the car quickly. Then came the heavy rain, just making it home before the hail! BEST viewed large on BLACK

  • Taken at Wellington Point on Sunset. Just above the tree, is the Venus/Jupiter/Moon Smiley Face!

After a quick message from Kane and an ordinary day (but somewhat productive) at work, I was keen to nab a special shot of this new location. • About I hate naming photos, I always have so much trouble doing so. This shot was taken on the recent Brisbane Meetup at Toowong Cemetery. Some beautiful angels are located at the top of one of the hills and are well worth the visit. It is important to note that we had permission to enter the cemetery to take photographs and also the fact that I didn’t climb over any graves to take these photographs. - ISO 200, f5, 30 sec, 28mm / - Sigma 18-200mm OS Lens / - Tripod with sand in the joints Processing - Soft light layer. / - Negative Clarity and and unsharp mask. / - Some cleaning up of the sparkler bits.

  • About I have a cold, so I stayed home. What better time to bust out the newly purchased Cactus v4 triggers and newly acquired 430ex for some practice. I’m a total n00b when it comes to flash so this is my first attempt at some strobist stuff on my own. • Brisbane City / Cultural Centre at Southbank, looking back towards the CBD Taken with Nikon D90 (w/nikkor 18-55mm VR lens) The original shot was taken just sitting the camera on the ledge of the overpass, no tripod involved. I used an apeture of about F11 and an exposure of about 1.5 secs. I aimed to catch the bus as it pulled up to pick up more passengers and got it just in time. The one raw file I split into three jpegs in camera. For the HDR I used two bracketed exposures run through Photomatix w/ details enhancer. Set the detail to 100% I found that the were lots of colours int he photo but the balance just didn’t help what I felt was good composition, so I tried photoshop just to convert to B&W, which seemed to make the image ‘pop’. This is my most popular image on RB to date and has been featured a few times in groups as well as come top ten in a challenge.

  • This is one from my recent trip with Glen to Moreton Island where we were witnessing a great natural spectacle. Do I really need to say anything here…..just look at this landscape and soak it in. It is a large tidal pool where we enjoyed the silence and absence of civilisation. For those of you with an iphone, I have 100 of my "best" in an application called "ifolio". I had the privilege with 49 other photographers of being selected for the launch of a new iPhone/iPod Touch application which is now available for free on iTunes and Apple Store. iFolio is an application created specifically for iPhone and / iPod Touch, which aims to provide a pleasant / and liquid portfolios of various artists (photographers, / artists, graphic illustrators, ...).

  • A very shallow tidal lagoon…and everything seems to reflect. The mangrove even if just tiny was so beautiful to watch. The aerial roots were arranged like a star around the tiny mangrove shrub. Thanks to my mate Glen for the modeling with his hat. I look forward to a return visit to that Mangrove in a few years time
