been reading about tribal child raising and the benefits, and we know I like birds… I began this art as abstract patterns, bubbles of pattern that transformed when I realised by putting a ‘fork in the road’ to the concentric circles, that I created an eye and beak. Before that, it could’ve been shown either way up. also, it transformed from earthy brown colours, to a colourful bird. ‘Is it art? ‘my teacher used to always question. He’s not here now. He’s just asking the question still! in my head! I like it-it’s bright, colouful and alive.
The original art is painted acrylic on stretched canvas and is 30” x 24” The original has been sold. You can see my other original paintings at arts-fine.co.uk
My apologies for having no originality in flower choice but as you can see, I love my plain old dandelions! Anyway, in this image there are 3 stages of flower from the same plant, the bud, the flower and the post-flower fairy which to me are like 3 generations. I chose the layers and treatment to reflect all 3 generations by being aged yet still bright and not faded. / Have sold 1 x laminated print.

This image was captured at Marsaxlokk, a quaint little fishing village in Malta. The water was a little murky and kind of greasy, no doubt caused by the diesel from the boats. This has probably caused the paint-like effect that seems prelevant in this image. I tweaked the brightness and colour saturation in photoshop but otherwise this picture is pretty much as is! It was a sunny day and that helped the colours to come out nicely..

Oil Pastel and Acrylic on old wood with slight digital enhancements Ophelia, puzzled by the radical transformation that had taken place overnight to this butterfly friend of hers, thought to herself, “She was in a white thread-like casing yesterday, how did all that happen so fast? There must be something magical about that case!” This is inspired by a book Hope For The Flowers by Trina Paulus. This is a cute and yet thought provoking story about two caterpillars who because they mistake the meaning of their urge to get high, get entangled climbing a horrible “caterpillar pillar”. And for two caterpillars, we all know, surrendering to the cocoon is the only way to finally fly. Hope For the Flowers is a book that celebrates HOPE. My fave lines from the book is “How does one become a butterfly?” She asked pensively. “You must want to fly so much that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar.” We are all meant to be as beautiful and free like the butterflies, that’s our destiny…as we free ourselves to be who we really are…and together with our innate talents,we bring hope to the world around us, bringing change inevitably around us :D / You can view and buy my other “Metamorphosis” creations from my Zazzle Gallery:
Original acrylic painting on canvas 24” x 30” / I have always loved photography, but it was a means to an end. I wanted ideas for painting. This painting really came from a deep instinct. It was the first time that I just let it happen as I went along. The color seemed to take shape in the back ground and soon I notice that it looked like spirits. Were they guiding me? I think they were. This is an / /

Inspiration sometimes comes when you least expect it. Paul Jackson’s “Fascination” watercolor inspiration occurred when the artist was unpacking boxes of drinking glasses on his counter. The result; an intense rainbow of colored glass in a one-of-a-kind painting. “Fascination” was completed in 2007 and is a huge 60” X 40”.
These are actually not poplar trees but the nesting colonies of the sociable weavers in the Kalahari desert. The weaver birds build their nests in high trees or in this case man made poles. The nesting material is harvested by local farmers to be sold as an industrial fire retardant and gets it’s color from the nearby Red dunes This image shows a detail. oil on canvas / 120×80 cm / original sold
I was experimenting with water and food colouring in my DIY studio at home. I put drops of the dye into the water and then quickly focused before the dye sank to the bottom. I also used thin white plastic with a light behind it to bring up the vivid colours. After viewing this in my digital darkroom I flipped the image just for fun to give it another dimension. It sort of looks like flowers growing up out of the ground.
FEATURED the Inspired Artist Group 12/10/2009 I have seen several wonderful repaint studies on RedBubble of Vermeer’s ‘The Pearl’. This is my fun version of it. / This digital painting is all mouse drawn and painted in Photoshop 5.5. Windows ‘98 platform. I would like to think my version of the ‘Pearl’ is how Mr. Vemeer would have painted it if he was a commercial illustrator in the 21’st century. He liked bright color as is being discovered when they clean centuries of grime off his wonderful paintings. I recieved a reproduction back on this design. The color is just as brilliant as you see on screen. Greeting Card For that bright flash of color or as a conversation piece in your decor use a small ‘Mounted Print’ on a plate easel, chic.
