Another my current series of Infrared landscapes all shot somewhere deep within the Hunter Valley at a friends place a couple of years ago. This particular one is a companion shot to big hill little cow and shows more of the hill and none of the cow. I am quietly enjoying the softness of the early morning light playing with the contours of the trees on the hill side….. enjoy
This is my last big/little image upload of Infrared landscapes from the daniland series of photographs. This mysterious little scene was shot very early one morning before the heavy enveloping fog had been burnt off by the approaching heat of the day. The fog has shrouded these little trees so densely that if seems like a magical and mysterious scene from a sci-fi movie shot somewhere on an another planet. Walking through the heavy fog in this beautiful heavily forested area is certainly an amazing and magical experince and this particular photo comes as close the the reality of how that feels.
Ok Ok I know I said yesterday’s upload was the last of the big/little daniland IR landscapes….. but …... but I’ve had some interesting feedback on this series so I thought I’d put up another one…. maybe even two. The amazingly beautiful and talented Ange who is a very high level photoshop lecturer commented on a particular digital/analouge montage that I had posted ages and ages ago called starry valley five and in responding to her I realized that the source photo for that image was in fact one of the daniland images. So I thought I’d post the original image along side the digital montage so you all could see the difference in the two pictures. At the time of making the starry valley series I was convinced that the original negatives for the daniland series were too degraded to make convicing photographic works but my post production skills have improved somewhat and to be honest I’ve been pretty pleased with the response from so many people to them. So just for the hell of it here’s the original daniland shot taken in very low light at the end of a magnificent day in the Hunter Valley and you guys can compare it to the digital montage and decide for yourselves which you prefer.
Some beautiful texture and colour on a building in Essaouira, Morocco. This is how I envisage the three of them being displayed, in fact I have them in a box frame like this and I think they’re pretty spiffy! I’ve tried to simulate the style of frame to give you a sense of it.

The underside of a CD, with water droplets on it and my spotlight lamp shining above it. Inspired by the incredible work of Sally Green. Big thank you to Sally for her generous help, and to Steve Falla for helping out with how to do this! I took over 100 shots of this, and I have to say, it’s a lot harder to get this right than I thought it would be! Precision in: angle, lighting, focus, droplets in the right places, movement, not to mention camera settings.. wow, a lot more than I thought! This shot was a mistake, I was after a bright spectrum of colour to reflect off the droplets and CD surface. I moved the camera a cm, and lost all surface colour. When I was reviewing the shots later, this one really stood out. Opposite of what I wanted, but a nice alternative to what I set out for initially. I love the contrast of bright reflection against the darkness of the shot. Kinda based on a couple of my favourite movies, The Crow and The Matrix ... that leather coat in The Matrix is a knockout piece of clothing in my opinion. ~ And this digitally brush-painted piece looks much better full-size, be assured. Eart and Heavens Oh, if I can be heaven / Under what you enter I would bring flicker / Into your apron pocket Let me be wind / What bristling your hairs Let me be a storm / In your bedstead of heart White message from cloud / Fetch I in evening But you should be Earth / Be murmuring forest Be and under the soil / Hold all supply Maybe in skyline / we can get together
