This is another of my favourites. I can’t remember the exact date I painted it… it was roughly January or February of 2006. I used acrylic on cardboard (but HOW I used it is a secret!), approximately 63cm x 51cm. A planned get-together with a mate fell through. So instead my son and I went to North Narrabeen beach and took advantage of some magical light and conditions to capture the coast during winter time. / For a very long time this image was my favourite. I was just amazed at how much light was absorbed by the wooden planks, contrast that with the smooth silky water. Photo Taken: 30-Jul-2006 / Time: 6:45pm / Conditions: Beautiful winters day / / / / / / / / / Some other seascape art: / / / / / / /
A great challenge for me is to take my camera and my 35mm prime lens for a walk through the Sydney CBD and see if I can see everyday things a little differently. Everyday is different, everyday is a challenge and a great break up of the day for me. Photo Taken: 25-Jul-2007 / Time: 2pm / Conditions: Sunny winters day

Ian Rilen was a legendary Sydney rock and roller and a member of bands such as Rose Tattoo, X and Sardine V. He died earlier this year and is much missed for his wild and wonderful ways. I found this candid back stage shot of him and his then wife Stephanie preparing to go onstage at the Trade Union Club in Sydney’s Surry Hills way way back in the early 80’s. They were in Sardine V at that time and when I look at this shot now the eighties rush back. Oh my misspent youth. :) So Vale Ian Rilen, I so hope things are rocking were ever you are. This shot is for you.
I’ve been on a mission to conquer the abstract-a true measure of an artist, I think, as there is no ‘reality’ to compare it too, no likeness to draw close to. Just you. You decide to continue, or when to stop. When to use the ‘f’ word-as we used to tease our sculpture teacher>there is no such thing as ‘finished’. I think there is. the energy passes-it’s time-if you go over, it become overworked and pushed, forced. And therein lies the art.
I bought some Singh Ray filters mid November. I did not get a chance to try them out until after Xmas – says a lot about the mad rush leading up to this period of the year. After using them I am in awe as to how effective they are. I love the challenge of street photography – seeing something in everyday things we would normally walk by. Its also a way I find to take my mind of my “day job” and use the other side of my brain. This was taken during one of my strolls camera in hand through Sydney CBD. Photo Taken: 22-Feb-2008 / Time: 7:30pm / Conditions: Sunny day / / / / / / / / Some other Sydney based art: / / / / / / /
