One of my areas of focus (No pun intended) recently has been to create composition with a more three dimensional view. This is hard to do with photography, and I have been working with different steps and combinations of DOF and lighting in my exposure. I think this photo is a sign that I’m at least making progress. / The reflection on the butterfly’s antenna creates a nice attention grabber, but my main intention besides the normal clarity and sharpness was the depth and 3D aspect. I should mention that I am not using any special software for this effect. The depth you see in the photo is created by manipulating the camera. / One of my earlier attempts at 3D work is Spring Contrast / American Painted Lady butterfly. Taken with 50-200mm f/3.5 at 1/1600 -1 at ISO 100. Fill flash trimmed down to -3.

Red hilltops
by zumiI was leaving ghost village of East Coulee (Alberta, Canada) when the clouds to the west opened letting the dusky rays of the setting Sun hit the long rusty hilltops running along the Red Deer river. From the bridge I also managed to capture the mirror image of the sun lit hills reflected in the shallow water. It was a magical display lasting for about 30 mins.
