The mid West Australian coast around Kalbarri is particularly rugged and the constant action of wind, waves, and tides over many millions of years have created several stunning coastal gorges as well as three or four amazing creations. This bridge is one such creation and is only visible at low tide. In this photo the setting sun was bouncing off the rocks behind me and creating a most wonderful setting that I and a couple of other photographers were taking full advantage of. Kalbarri is a popular fishing cum holiday township 150 kms north of Geraldton and getting on for 600 kms north of Perth. As well as it’s coastal gorges it is also famed for some stunning river gorges

Sunset at U Bein’s Bridge – Mandalay, Burma. The bridge, made entirely of teak, is said to be the longest wooden bridge in the world. A fascinating human procession can be seen on the bridge at any time of day, but especially at sunset. A large Buddhist monastery is located at the foot of the bridge explaining the large number of monks that use it.

Another shot of the Bay Bridge over looking San Francisco. Also if you look on the bridge you can see a police vehicle swerving across lanes to slow traffic.

The old I Street bridge carries cars on the top level and trains on the lower level. It is a turnstyle bridge to allow boats to pass.

Herringfleet Mill can be found where you might least expect to find it – about twenty yards on the Suffolk side of the Norfolk/Suffolk border. Given Norfolk’s monopoly on spectacular, well-preserved mills, it seems only fair that neighbouring Suffolk should have a few of its own…although it should be noted that even this mill is officially in the Norfolk Broads. This photograph was taken on an extremely February day. A 13 seconds’ exposure captured the movement of the clouds as they raced across the East Anglian sky. Canon EOS 5D and EF 16-35mm lens. Exposure of 13 seconds at f/22.

Como Marina and Bridge just after sunset – Como, Sydney, Australia. The interesting thing about this photo is that I was experimenting with delaying the time between each of the bracketed shots to capture the a train going each way on the bridge and I think this may have added to the vivid electric blue colour. The first shot was taken about 15 mins after sunset and the other two bracketed shots were taken 5 and 10 mins later respectively. You can see this a little in the fact that the boat on the right is a bit fuzzy. Very little post processing was done on this shot other than the obvious HDR process in Photomatix. Other that that it was just a minor crop to get rid of something I couldn’t see in the low light in the forground in iphoto and thats it. Nikon D90, Sigma 10-20mm @ 10mm, f10, HDR’ed in Photomatix with 3 exposures, mtr, -2 & +2, at 20, 6 & 30 seconds, iphoto, Slik 614CF tripod, Nikon ML-L3 remote.

This HDR image was shot late eveing in the countryside around where I live. The image was taken under a small bridge. I rested the camera on a small boulder and using my split angle viewer composed as best as I could. I used the delayed timer rather than my cable release to fire the shutter. I love low level photography. Getting as close to the ground as possible. It gives an altogether different view of the scene. I had to shoot at 800 ISO so as to avoid camera shake. Bracketd exposure + and – 2 stops from the normal exposure. AP mode on WB setting shade. Camera used was my Canon EOS 400D with 18-55mm Lens. I used photomatix to merge and CS3 to complete.

Title from a certain Chris Isaak song… I haven’t been taking a lot of photos whilst enjoying my stay in San Francisco but this little visit to a certain bridge we all know, made the fact that I hadn’t been out not matter to me at all, I absolutely loved this spot and I can’t wait to come back to this great city and explore it a little bit more… Without a doubt this is already one of my favourite photos out of the many thousands I have taken over the past 18 months or so, thanks for looking :D / Settings Canon 40D, 10-22mm IS. Ok, time to get serious now. This is a bridge across an estuary at South West Rocks, NSW….gorgeous place, lovely scene. We arrived here just on sunset, so had to very quickly find something to photograph…..as we do :) This was shot the next morning, on the way home….
