Magnolia Plantation and Gardens. Founded in 1676 by the Drayton family, Magnolia Plantation has survived the centuries and witnessed the history of our nation unfold before it from the American Revolution through the Civil War and beyond. It was built by the labors and talents of slaves and would not be here today without their contributions to it’s history. It is the oldest public tourist site in the Lowcountry of the USA, and the oldest public gardens in America, opening its doors to visitors in 1870 to view the thousands of beautiful flowers and plants in its famous gardens. The gardens are as beautiful today as they once were, and the Ashley River offers sights of birds of the south, aligators, and other southern charms. This calendar gives you a glimpse at that wonder known as Magnolia Plantation, Charleston, South Carolina USA. This calendar contains the photography of artist Mary Campbell. Mary is visual artist, photographer and poet. You can see more of her work or purchase individual items from her online gallery.

Covered bridges have a very long and revered history in the United States of America. These, once purely utilitarian, stream crossing structures are now recognized as the true works of art that they truly are! The historical and artistic value of each of these few remaining covered bridges is beyond measure, especially to those who fully appreciate their beauty and significance. The covered bridges featured on these pages were all photographed in the north central region of Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania still has the greatest number of these unique structures, more than any other state in the country. The vast majority of historic bridges have been lost to floods or deterioration. Please enjoy the ones presented here, while they are still standing! © 2009 Gene Walls All copyright and reproduction rights are retained by the artist.
