The bridge at sunrise revisited.
Here’s the Golden Gate Bridge looking more “golden” than ever! / And, since it is in the “Golden State”, that makes it quite clever!! / CREATION INFORMATION Medium: Travel/Architectural/Digital Photography. Technique: Digital Cross Processing. Tools: Digital Camera, Photoshop CS2. Shooting Location: The Golden Gate Bridge – San Fransisco, CA / CONTEST & CHALLENGE HISTORY 04/01/08 – Entry to United States Group’s U.S. State’s Motto Competition [California state motto: “Eureka! (I have found it!)” / The Golden Gate Bridge has long been one of our state’s most beloved landmarks and icons, representing the Golden State’s appeal to those who seek fame, fortune, and fancy! And, being a bridge, it is a metaphor of what California’s first pioneers had to do to reach for their wildest dreams – they had to cross all sorts of metaphoric bridges! To get somewhere, we eventually have to cross a bridge of some sort. Sometimes we cannot see where the bridge ends, sometimes it is too cloudy or treacherous, and sometimes (as in the photo depicted here) the bridge seems too ominous and foreboding. Bridges, much like The Golden Gate Bridge (as seen here), represent choices and chances and the moment we come to one, we must decide whether or not we stay where we are or cross. The original pioneers knew this, of course, and they took those chances and exercised leaps of faith all in the hopes of one day being able to say “Eureka, I have found it!”
Taken on the Kona side of the Big Island, Hawaii, the low sun highlights the dramatic clouds in this unusual scene. Highly filtered post-processing lends an air of surreal beauty.

Shades of early morning light are reflected on ‘The Swing Bridge’ as it is mirrored in the serene waters of the Erskine River at Lorne, on The Great Ocean Road. This bridge was built in 1934 providing pedestrian access from the Ocean Road to the beach near the river mouth. Pentax istDS Camera. An HDR image with three exposures bracketed and processed using Dynamic Photo HDR. Please feel free to browse through my website: Phil Thomson IPA Photography I hope you enjoy the experience.

Hudson Terrace, Fort Lee, New Jersey / © jc warburton 09, Nikon D90,Nikkor 18-200mm 1:3.5 – 5.6 VR lens The GWB, upper level, opened for traffic on Oct. 25th, 1931. The lower level, referred to as “Martha”, LOL, was opened in 1962. It’s a beautiful suspension bridge connecting Washington Heights, Bronx, New York to Fort Lee, New Jersey. There’s a walkway on the north and south side of this suspension bridge and it’s not a walk for the faint of heart. The guard rail comes up just a bit higher than waist level and it’s not solid. I could actually imagine a small child slipping through and falling off this bridge. You can’t take any bridge photos while on the bridge except at the halfway mark. There’s security at both ends, in the middle, and an officer on a bicycle who goes back and forth. The bridge is owned and run by the Port Authority of New York, New Jersey.

First, I wondered how I got there? I was standing in Venice Italy…somewhere I had wanted to go my entire life. Overwhelmed with gratitude I dropped a penny in the water and made another wish.
