  • Looks to me like an abstract of a battle ship opening fire. / Actually Anzac Bridge, Sydney inner-west on a foggy night some time ago. Blackwattle Bay was the flatest I’d ever seen it this night and then a light fog rolled in which does fun things to lights. Canon 30D / Tv: 25secs / Av: f/25 / ISO: 100 / FL: 70mm

  • Loved the lights reflecting on the water tonight.

  • Night shot on the Scotswood Bridge

  • This is York’s Ouse Bridge crossing the river Ouse that splits the city into two at around 4.55am, when the lights of the city start to fade into the coming dawn. Even at this low level, you get a sense of the speed of this river.

  • ELVET across the River Wear to the east of the Durham peninsula is bounded by the river on its western, northern and eastern sides so that like the `Dun Holm it forms an `island, although considerably flatter in appearance. Records of Elvet’s existence actually predate the settlement of Dunholm in 995 A.D so it may have been a place of importance. Anciently Elvet was called AELFET EE which in a very old tongue meant `Swan Island’ . This is recorded in an old book called The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle as the place where a certain Peotwine was consecrated as the BISHOP OF WHITHORN in the year 762 A.D. This consecration took place two hundred and thirty three years before the founding of Durham as at this time the Dun Holm is thought to have been a densely wooded uninhabitable area. Elvet, flatter and more accessible may have been settled and cultivated. It is worth noting that SIMEON OF DURHAM,an eleventh century historian with access to ancient documents, suggested the existence of an earlier settlement in the vicinity of Durham. He describes the densely wooded Durham peninsula as containing a small cultivated plain which was regularly ploughed and sown by farmers before the settlement of St Cuthbert’s carriers in 995 A.D. Perhaps the farmers came from a small agricultural settlement at Elvet. EOS 1D MkIII, 17-40mm (L)

  • I committed for a whole year to make images at the Narrows Bridge. After nine months I am amazed that I can still find new and interesting images. I hope that by imersing myself in a setting and working hard (20 visits this year) I can begin to see. This was made last weekend, as the sun’s position changes as it rises the low sunlight illuminates different parts of the bridge supports.

  • St. Petersburg, the Sunshine Skyway Bridge,Tampa Bay / Nikon D3x / HDR / 3 shots / Lens 70-200mm /

  • this newly constructed bridge is on my way to work. The light and bridge made interesting angle so I decied to upload here. / Also I am happy to see beauty of the city lights 20 kms away from heart of Bangalore, India Canon 1000d, 18-55 lense, 10 sec exposure with ISO 100 / man, I really need some filters now!!!!

  • Thames View of Big Ben and Houses of Parliament and Westminster Bridge. Views like this are one of the reasons that made my move from Devon to the Capital less of a heartache. I do miss the wonderful rural landscapes of Devon, but a photographer / artist can find inspiration anywhere, if only he’ll open his eyes and heart. / I captured this scene whilst visiting St Thomas’ Hospital at Westminster Bridge. The light was bright so I took shelter under the trees and the view across the Thames to the Houses of Parliament was stunning from the shade. Westminster Bridge was also looking good and I’m surprised there was so much detail in the shadows under the arches. I like the orange reflections of the buildings on the water, and wonder what it would have looked like had I used some ND filtres???? I’ll have to try that one day. Camera. Nikon D700 with 24-120mm Lense. ISO200 1/125sec f/9.0.

  • The Capitol Christmas tree taken from the capitol steps, looking down the Capitol Mall. the Tower Bridge is in the far background. It was raining so there was a nice reflection from the tree.
