This photo is pretty much straight out of the camera – sometimes i really surprise myself! I took this photo at the same place I took “yarra river footbridge” – dragged hubby down to carry my tripod around city so i could take a few more snaps at night – happy! Camera details (let me know if I have missed anything) / f-stop: f/10 / aperture value: f/3.5 / ISO: 400 / focal length: 18 mm / taken on a nikon D80 same location: / . /

Tower Bridge has stood over the River Thames in London since 1894 and is one of the finest, most recognisable bridges in the World. Tower Bridge is a combined bascule and suspension bridge in London, England over the River Thames. It is close to the Tower of London, which gives it its name. It has become an iconic symbol of London and is sometimes mistakenly called London Bridge, though London Bridge is in fact the next bridge upstream. Tower Bridge is owned and maintained by Bridge House Estates, a charitable trust overseen by the Corporation of London.

This image was bitch to capture and process. There was about a gazillion stops between the highlights and shadows. I think from memory I did a 9 stop bracket to capture the shadow and detail. The processing was really difficult to do without making the image look unreal. Natural Bridge is a pretty cool place to visit in Springbrook National Park in QLD. Enjoy.
I was intending to capture the light trails from the double decker bus all the way through the image – but my timing was a little off – I perhaps should have gone for a small aperture/longer shutter speed. Still, I like the effect of it ending in the middle of nowhere – it gives me the impression of “Back to the Future” – but in a double decker!
I was walking over the Chicago River on the Wells Street Bridge when I stopped and set my camera down on the railing to capture this nighttime shot. The city’s lights looked exceptionally colorful to me that evening.

This is not your “usual” shot of the S.F. city skyline and Bay Bridge that you are used to seeing… those are shot from overhead. There are reasons this view is not seen all over the place… To get to this location, there are a lot of obstacles to overcome. Sheer drops with nothing but rocks and ocean below abound, jagged metal from construction jut up from the ground when you least expect, and the keep out signs from the government didn’t help to settle my nerves any either. For that last reason you don’t want to use your flashlight as you head down the slopes for fear of the coast guard seeing you. That makes the afore mentioned problems magnified. So… all that said, it was a calm beautiful night on the bay and once I reached this area, I found this sight so breathtaking that it took me easily five minutes before I remembered why I came to the spot. Lake of Two Mountains, in the village of Oka Quebec, CANADA,taken on Saturday March 21st 2009 with Nikon D40, Nikkor VR 55-200mm lens. / The tracks you see carved into the ice in the foreground are made by the cars that pass daily on the “ice bridge” from one side of the shore to the other. This ice roadway is maintained by a private company, has been 100 years in existence and no accidents have ever happened. However, the day that we were there, we noted during the afternoon that several pools of water had emerged over top the ice in some places and we presume that was the last weekend of using the passage over the lake to get to the other side. Como Marina and Bridge just after sunset – Como, Sydney, Australia. The interesting thing about this photo is that I was experimenting with delaying the time between each of the bracketed shots to capture the a train going each way on the bridge and I think this may have added to the vivid electric blue colour. The first shot was taken about 15 mins after sunset and the other two bracketed shots were taken 5 and 10 mins later respectively. You can see this a little in the fact that the boat on the right is a bit fuzzy. Very little post processing was done on this shot other than the obvious HDR process in Photomatix. Other that that it was just a minor crop to get rid of something I couldn’t see in the low light in the forground in iphoto and thats it. Nikon D90, Sigma 10-20mm @ 10mm, f10, HDR’ed in Photomatix with 3 exposures, mtr, -2 & +2, at 20, 6 & 30 seconds, iphoto, Slik 614CF tripod, Nikon ML-L3 remote.

These bursts of yellow were found at the lake at Alfred Nicholas Gardens, the Dandenongs, Victoria, Australia, in autumn. This is not an hdr shot.
