I was lucky enough to spend a night in Sydney taking photos and here they are. PS used to crop and take out a few stars.

The historic chair was carved out of a rock ledge for Governor Lachlan Macquarie’s wife, Elizabeth, as she was known to visit the area and sit enjoying the panoramic views of the harbour. The point offers a breathtaking view of the harbour with both the Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge providing the perfect backdrop for picture taking.

View of Sydney Harbour Bridge & Opera House from Lavender Bay. City CBD with the Sydney Tower to the right, Luna Park on the left.
An abstract architectural shot of Sydney Harbour’s two most famous icons. If you look carefully you can see the bridge climbers too!
I took this photo only about an hour ago after stopping into the Gallery 26 to say ‘Hi’ to Steve. (I was in the area). Once again, it’s another Bridge & House photo. Taken with a Sigma 10-20mm, D200. /
Panoramic Composition of Sydney Harbour taken on a summer’s night. These images were taken with the white balance set at 6000K with exposures of 30 seconds. Having some clouds in the sky helped provide some texture to the image and a still night contributed to getting some nice reflections off the water. Together I think they help capture the warmth and vibrance of summer in Sydney by night. / / / / / / / / / / / / / /
This panorama was take during one of the worst sea fog I have ever seen in Sydney. The Fog doesn’t dispersed until about 8:30am. It was so think that even from Mrs Macquarie’s Chair you can’t see Opera House.

There’s a story that has done the rounds in Sydney for ages about a ghost ship that plies the harbour. It was once a ferry that worked the harbour, before the bridge was built. It sank in fog one cold winter’s night and all on it perished. You’d think that most Australians could swim however, it being winter, they had their winter woollies on which dragged them all down. Their cries wafted across the water borne by the Sirens out of the thick fog and were heard on shore by those waiting for the ferry to arrive. Many a gentle soul perished that night in circumstances so wretched. I took this photo this evening however, I didn’t think much of it when I saw it in the camera lcd screen as it seemed underexposed. When I loaded it onto my computer I could make out some sort of ghostly image. I increased the lighting a bit and then increased the contrast to previously unexplored levels and the ghost ship materialised before my very eyes. Old fisherman/wives tale? I think not!
