  • Driving over a bridge in Newcastle after the storms and floods.

  • Intended as a companion shot to the “Sydney Harbour Bridge (Int)” shot, I really wanted a second photo of the Sydney Harbour Bridge that wasn’t a standard-style one. The Harbour Bridge Pylons are the focus here, and the thing about them is that they’re actually purely decorative – they serve no engineering or structural purpose at all. (or so the tourist literature tells me!)

  • Another shot of a beautiful bridge in Florida

  • M2 Motorway bridge over the Medway at Rochester. A passion for light and sunset….....

  • / Stone Bridge Along Virginia’s Skyline Drive

  • The daily Brisbane traffic streams home along Riverside Expressway. Shot taken in September 2008.

  • So I went down to Rochester’s Lower Falls park expecting to shoot these great images of the Falls, that you could only see mist emanating from in my previous black and white bridge shots. I didn’t find any spot that I could get an unobstructed view of the falls but I did find this. There are four monolithic (a quatralith?) Black stone pillars with faces and hands carved into them, appearing to be trying to break free in some cases. In the center of the four pieces is a marble block on which it is inscribed “The seat of forgetting and remembering.” The Rochester Wiki has a very little bit of info. The Seat of Forgetting and Remembering The Sculpture was created by Adriana Ippel Slutzky, a sculptor/art educator who taught at the Rochester School for the Deaf. It was unvield in 2001 as part of the annual Rose Festival to celebrate the trail and overlook improvements made to the park.

  • This pic has several meanings to me and represented dual meanings my heart at the time this picture was taken. I’ll see if I can explain that dual meaning to ya. First, the intent of this pic was to show how these old bridges are slowly but surely fading from their existence here in East TN. I remember being a small girl and riding in the back of the pickup truck, looking up and seing those green or blue colored beams go whisping by me. They always meant alot to me, and to see them going due to progress breaks my heart. It’s a part of my childhood, and soon my children will barely remember them at all. Secondly, the view in which the pic was taken happened to also represented where I was at in my life at the time. My Monte Carlo was my life, my dream, my ticket to freedom. After being mostly at home in a bad marraige while raising two girls amidst my post partum depresson with both of them, divorce and the car of my dreams were all I needed to set my soul free. I seemed to put more miles on the highway than I’ve ever done before. Always on the move as quickly as possible and never turning back to see where I’d been. It was a growing time for me and very symbolic that I for once, took the time to snap a shot of just what I was leaving behind. Memories of my recent and childhood past. I guess in a way the photo is somewhat poetic. Maybe after you read this narrative, you can appreciate the photo as well.

  • Tanker on the Chesapeake Bay in December waters. Photo taken from the top of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge while driving across with a Olympus E510.

  • BEST VIEWED LARGER Opened on December 11, Grand Pacific Drive is a new tourist drive hugging the coast from the Royal National Park to Wollongong. The 70-kilometre drive winds through some of the state’s most spectacular scenery – ocean panoramas, surf beaches, heathland, rainforest and coastal villages beneath the towering cliffs of the Illawarra Escarpment – and across the route’s crowning glory, the new Sea Cliff Bridge. An impressive sight and an engineering marvel, the $49-million bridge follows the curve of the coastline below the cliffs and straddles the sea and rock shelves. It replaces a dodgy section of Lawrence Hargrave Drive that wound around the base of the cliff. Prone to landslides, the road was closed for more than two years, cutting off the coastal villages from major access north and south. • On my way back home from Balmain yesterday. I had a "great" Idea. Why not hang out of the car, while driving and take a a nice wide angle shot of the Anzac Bridge. / Luckily I didn’t kill myself or trashed $5000 worth of Equipment. / As with everything in life you have to take risks with photography. I think this one was well worth it. All the other 60 Shots I took in the same style weren’t. / Anyway I really enjoyed the thrill. I think I’ll do it more often. Maybe next time as a passenger. Cheers, Alex alexkess.com

  • This is a very secluded private lane that was extremely hard to find. The original reason for my search was the beautiful Pennsylvania covered bridge in the background, but this sign and colorful banner really caught my eye. This image was captured north east of Salladasburg, Pennsylvania in Anthony Township, off of RT 973 on Water Company Road. This photo was captured with a Canon EOS 10D body fitted with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L Zoom lens, at the longest focal length of 40mm. The shutter speed was1/60th second at f/4. The camera’s ISO was set to 100. A Manfrotto, tripod was used with a remote shutter release cable. Your comments are always welcome! Constructive criticism is appreciated. © 2009 Gene Walls All copyright and reproduction rights are retained by the artist.
