I missed a fantastic sunset, and an incredibly intense lightning storm. By the time I got to my chosen vantage point, I was left with the remnants of both. © Sara Lamond 2007. Just before the sunset, the sun starts to go down, the colors change. / The best time of day to think of the good things that happened and to think about tomorrow. / Image taken at Kanaka Creek Regional Park. B.C, Canada

This is a little bridge in my piece of the woods after the first snow. All is calm and quiet. Even the deer seemed to be walking gingerly – not wanting to disturbed the “peace”. Some may even say that the picture portrays a feeling of “eerie-ness” but for me, it’s just the quietness and serenity. This is why I’d like to do my part to keep nature this way! :) Donation to charity / 50% of the proceeds of the sale of this image will be donated to Nature Canada

This painting is acrylic on stretched canvas. We went to the movies at Sydney Harbour and when we arrived, the rain was pouring down. I was struck by the sparkling reflections on the esplanade and the softness of the colours in the distance. I rushed to get my camera and quickly took photos before it stopped. / I have used warmer colours than the photo showed, creating the feeling of the sun behind the clouds, just about to break through. Sydney Harbour Bridge – a popular and much loved Sydney icon. So totally photogenic that people travel from far and wide to photograph it, to say they’ve seen it, walked on it, climbed it and driven over it. There is a working side to the bridge, too. It took 1400 men to build, 53,000 tonnes of steel, over 6 million hand driven rivets, 272,000 litres of paint just for the first 3 coats alone, it requires constant daily maintenance, it carries hundreds of trains each day, over 150,000 cars daily traverse it’s span and countless commuters, cyclists and tourists walk and cycle along the pedestrian and cycle ways. Celebrating what is still today an engineering feat, this is my tribute to our bridge.

A view of the Humber Bridge from Hessle Foreshore on a cold, foggy Boxing Day. The building of this bridge was commenced when I was a very young girl, and I used to go with my grandad to Hessle Foreshore to watch its progress and touch the pillars! Finally it was complete and I now cross it many times a year. Its a fine structure!

Sydney Harbour Bridge shot on the night of the full lunar eclipse 2007. I also shot the moon, which unfortunately was not in the position I’d hoped, so…. now it is :) © Sara Lamond 2007. All rights reserved. / / / / / / / / / / / /
