  • From my first wedding shoot. Actually, the couple had already hired a professional photographer, and I just tagged along getting candids such as this one. Not sure if anyone is interested in buying someone else’s wedding pictures, but I’m putting this image up for sale anyways.

  • for a little romance…

  • It has been a long time since I took some self portraits. The act of self portraiture is a fascinating one. Your model is always available when you are, she is as keen about your ideas and as enthusiastic about creating them as you too. She waits patiently as you play with your camera and light and dress the set. She fits into all your costumes. I love the responsibility that comes with self portraiture- that I am the idea, the production, the product. I can’t blame anyone else for the finished work being ruined or imperfect. But I also love that recklessness and sense of abandon. That I can throw myself into an image however feels natural and right and good. It’s like singing on stage blind.

  • Beach Bride is a mixed media production on canvas textured paper / I used ink, pastel, acrylic and charcoal, I used layers of thick white paint to achieve texture in her veil and wedding skirt

That water had to be high 30s, mid 40s. I stepped in to get a different angle and after a few seconds my feet hurt so badly. She was all the way in and underwater at times. This woman is strong! You’re amazing, Kelly! :)

  • wedding day… getting dressed and make up on. friends and family busily decorating and getting everything ready. all hoping the weather will hold just long enough. alas it’s time. the sun is shining the wind is blowing. she walks down the stairs in her daddy’s hand. she reaches her love. they recite some lines binding them together forever. the lady says kiss your bride… congratulations for the sweet couple. time for the party. food is served. cake is cut. bridesmaids get emotional while giving toasts. the brides sister catches the bouquet. many photographs are taken. fun is had. time to go home and relax … but first…some alone time with her new husband on the beach…alone with the photographers anyway… September 5th 2009 / Nikon D80 / Cannon Beach, Oregon / (The First Wedding I Photographed and it was a team effort with my Sis!)

  • To be honest I can’t recall what I was thinking in this shot, except for I knew I wanted a pretty dress, and to have my feetl dangling over this half wall. There was nothing dark about the image I was setting out to create. Through the processing it took on a very dark feel, which is something I love about the post processing in photoshop. I feel the pictures often direct me on where they want to go. After I was finished this image was the exact opposite of what I was going for. Much better and packed with emotion. I love when that happens. Interestingly enough I think my sub conscience was working to express my feelings. Not literally of course, but this photograph has deep meaning to me metaphorically speaking.
