for a little romance…
This image is the 1st in a series of 3….. My inspiration behind this are all the lovely wedding images that I see; full of hope, happiness and love, but as we all know the divorce rate is very high and unfortunately many of the beautiful and happy couples divorce… It makes me wonder how would these couples feel if they knew that a few years down the road and a couple of children later, their union would end in divorce. These are the emotions I have tried to capture and portray in my series. And I would like to add a huge thank you to my model and best friend who was also my inspiration as she too recently divorced but was still brave enough to get back into her beautiful wedding dress for this shoot.

Months before her big day, this beautiful bride took her dogs for a walk on the beach, not knowing that her life was about to change….... we had set up video cameras at strategic points and her boyfriend arrived, went down on bended knee and proposed to her, holding out a beautiful ring. / The sheer delight of this very surprised bride, not even bothering to look at the ring, jumped into his arms and kissed him…..... only later did she take time out to look at the ring….. that says something to me….. this marriage will last.

Okay, I know that my image dose not depict a witch dancing upon a hill top, but this is what came to mind in regards to the concept of loosing your heart to someone that you may only love from afar. THE WITCH UPON THE HILL (At least I hope that you will enjoy this poem that I read in a book) Her eyes are black, the midnight sea, / Her hair, a sooty cloud / Her voice, the winds of fantasy / Her heart like fire, and proud I could not help but watch her / As beneath the moon she danced. / She whirled, she cast, she conjured / She sang a mystic chant She soared into my sould that night / The starry sky her wings / She whispered secrets in my dreams / And spoke of sacred things Im my mind, she entranced me / Her kiss was magick-laced / Her touch, it left me trembling / And craving her embrace The Skys obey her every wish, / The elements, her commands, / She wields a power over me, / My heart lies in her hands For her I’d cross the universe, / For her I’d swim the sea, / But what could an Enchantress want / With a simple man like me? She came, and said “I love you, / And likely, always will.” / My heart, I pledge, forevermore / To the witch upon the hill. Watercolor, ink, paper “Awake, north wind, and come, south wind! Blow on my garden, that its fragrance may spread abroad. Let my lover come into his garden and taste its choice fruits.” / (Songs 4:16) It is difficult for the Soul to lose the height of comfort reached, even though all her sacrifices are like tiny beads slipping through her fingers in comparison with the divine reward of His love. The good works the Soul does for Him are not what delights God, but her herself when she remains in Him. The Bride answers to her Beloved: “Whatever wind is blowing: dry north, burning my garden, or gentle south breeze, whatever hardships enter my life, I say – Come, my Beloved, the garden belongs to You only. I will follow You wherever You call me. Let my life be like a table generously laid for You and Your friends.”
The Bride lovingly watching over her young explorer. / Taken 7/18/09 – after taking over 600 pictures at a friend’s wedding, this unexpected photo turned out to be my favorite. wedding day… getting dressed and make up on. friends and family busily decorating and getting everything ready. all hoping the weather will hold just long enough. alas it’s time. the sun is shining the wind is blowing. she walks down the stairs in her daddy’s hand. she reaches her love. they recite some lines binding them together forever. the lady says kiss your bride… congratulations for the sweet couple. time for the party. food is served. cake is cut. bridesmaids get emotional while giving toasts. the brides sister catches the bouquet. many photographs are taken. fun is had. time to go home and relax … but first…some alone time with her new husband on the beach…alone with the photographers anyway… September 5th 2009 / Nikon D80 / Cannon Beach, Oregon
