The Butchart Gardens in Brentwood Bay on Vancouver Island, Canada, is one of the world’s premier floral show gardens. Jennie Butchart began to shape this magnificent landscape in 1904. She established, in the style of the grand estates of the period, several distinct gardens to evoke a range of aesthetic experiences. An abandoned limestone quarry was transformed into the dramatic Sunken Garden. / In 1964, Ian Ross, grandson of the Butcharts, created and installed the Ross Fountain. The water rises 70 ft (21 m), providing a magnificent display.

Entry Way into the Getty Museum. This Museum is far more than a 1 day experience and should be taken in in small bites. On this day I went with the sole intention of looking at the architechture and paying attention to what was there. I was not disapointed! It was a feast for the eyes and the camera. The lines and the vistas and the nooks and the zen gardens makes the whole of the Getty Museum a true art experience and allows the Photographer the opportunity to make art of it!http://www.getty.edu/about/trust.html The J Paul Getty Trust was established in 1953. The Gardens At the Getty Museum in Brentwood are meant to be a piece of art. They were designed by an artist to be a work of art aided by a landscaper who helped the installation come to life. This is probably more surreal than even the architecht wanted it to be. I was standing here talking to my wife on the phone and I saw this image. Incorporated with its reflection the building in the distance became somthing altogether different. Butchart’s Gardens are located just a short distance from Victoria, Vancouver Island, near the village of Brentwood Bay. Since they were started by Jennie Butchart in 1904, on the site of her husband’s worked-out limestone quarry, they have become one of the most beautiful set of gardens anywhere in the world. This view is of the Sunken Garden, created at the bottom of the largest quarry pit. The gardens are a National Historic Site of Canada. / They are easily visited from Victoria, by car,taxi,many different tour buses,cycling or even by water from Saanich Inlet.
