This shot is one of my favourites because it tells such a story. In the forground is a wallet being held by one of my colleagues Bart. He is buying the basket being held by the Rwandan woman in the middle of the shot. All eyes are on the transaction. This represents life and death in Africa as much as any other portrait. It is positive, but you can also feel the tension, the need, the hope. All proceeds to charity. I might even buy this myself. – Dog photography – Africa photography / - Beach photography - Black & white photography – Dog photography – Africa photography / - Beach photography - Monotone photography

PLEASE VIEW LARGE.. !! This was taken early in the morning as we arrived for our journey to the Elephant Seal area. Mists and light and Peace. Taken in the Año Nuevo SNR State Natural Reserve Northern California / ELEPHANT SEAL AFTERNOON I have used this form of morning meditation for quite some time and feel the ease of this practice and results in a more generous day with better focus. This is a meditation to begin the day. In a seated pose, focus on your breath. Cultivate a steady, relaxed breath. Then ask yourself: What is my intention today? After posing the question, rest your attention on the out-breath. This creates a spaciousness of attention on the in-breath. There is no direction for the in-breath. Do not get carried away by thinking, but also do no tightly control the attention. Continue to notice each out breath. Sit until you are struck by a clarity of intention. It comes not by chasing it down with thinking, but by stilling the mind and creating space. It may take a few minutes, or much longer. If no specific intention announces itself to you, simply commit to acting ethically and with mindfulness. That is certainly an intention that we can all practice each day. This meditation seems simple, and it is simple. It’s power lies in its ability to help us act intentionally throughout the day. If you practice this meditation each morning, you will find yourself more ‘awake’ behind the wheel of your life*.

Part of my 2:14am series A regular thought occurred; Sometimes its easier to think when the rest of the population is in the other world, the Dream world. The numbness of the cold is also a helpful mystery. Although as I thought about the Dreaming people living their other lives I envied them, If only I could sleep forever and stay as my other self for the rest of my eternity, that way my problems are lifted and a whole set of new problems can emerge, Change is good no matter how bad it may seem. Without this change we can not die, but we can not live without it. Self Portrait…. digital manipulation of my face and significant textures from my drawings. / WAKE UP CALL! / After hitting a certain “milestone” birthday, I began to realize the fragility of life. Simultaneously, one by one, my aunts and uncles, mother and father, passed away. Gone from existence as we know it. / I began to feel suffocated by the passing of time and worked my way through the experience with this self portrait as my therapy. / /
