A collection of slogan graffiti images photographed from around the world. The graffiti slogan, which can be political, humourous, weird or politcal gives a reference to a point in time, it captures a mood or moment in time of the graffiti author. Graffiti is a temporary communication from the author due to the elements and indeed, local government efforts to clean it up. As such, the graffiti is only available for a limited time to be captured and preserved forever.

ACT OF KINDNESS Act of kindness reminds us that nature had warmth and love to give us and when we need to be stimulated, it is all around us if we but look. It has the power to revive us if we let it. It is a reminder that the simplest things are the best in life. I have co-ordinated the poem Act of Kindness with my images from nature. ACT OF KINDNESS / Softly my arms / Lift to the aroma / Let my heart take breath / Breathe in life / That vivaciously abounds / In the tang / Of occasions of unmerited solace / And involves us in a tapestry / Which can engrave itself / And entangle itself / With exquisite peace. / It becomes a refreshment / That we can recall / In thought or dream / The thing that comes to mind / At the strangest of time / And brings a smile. / Even in woody grandeur / There can be / The most humble stimulation / We ever ignore the inevitable / The comfort trying to show its face / It becomes richer with subtle embrace / Then when we are gasping for life / It is there / It outshines the man-made divine / It reflects and stimulates / Thoughts of a greater time / Significant in its modesty
“The Breathe Project” by photographer Darrin Ballman, is an on going experiment in improvisational photography. In this “First Harvest” of the project, a period of time was set aside to photograph with little to no preconceived idea of what each individual shoot should look like. It did not matter what or who the subjects were or what situation they were in. Anyone who wanted to get in front of his camera was welcome. These are a few of the resulting images from the very first “Breathe Project”. To learn more about the project…visit www.darrinballman.com/breatheproject.html
A 2010 calendar of selected paintings by Beth Anna Hynum. A year round invitation to a space where shadow confounds with dream, where the figures tucked into a maritime abyss give glimpses of delicious nights in a cocoon of well-being- reminding us to always take a deep breath.
