While visiting Duluth Minnesota last year, I stopped out at the break water just before sunset. People were mingling around the pier waiting for the iron ore ship the Federal EMS to come in.. / The lighthouse is owned by the Coast Guard. Grounds open, tower closed. I went in search of this photo based on a painting by Lorusmaver. / Lorus & I collaborate on images. / Lorus often paints interpretations from my photos. Here the roles were reversed, Lorus had produced this fine artwork & it inspired me to search for the view. I decided on this view from the other side of the breakwater, being early morning the light was better & the remains of trawler nets was more impressive cuckmere Haven / southdowns / sussex panasonic fz50

Australian Fur Seal – Taking refuge underneath the / Breakwater pier in Warrnambool July 09 – We beleive this seal was sick suffering from ingesting fishermens hooks. It constantly was rolling its head around as if in pain. Lucky these days, hooks and fishing line can be bought where it can break down after some time. Somthing to think about and highly reccomend it if you can get it. There are now all sorts of biodegradeable lures, hooks and lines that break down in less than five years as opposed to 600 years with nylon filaments. Sometimes though, the damage has already been done.
