This journal post is a little long but it is my first attempt at including pics in a journal, so bear with me and hopefully you will find this vaguely amusing! For those of you lucky enough to attend the Gallery 26 Exhibition “Mountains, Rivers, Sea”, at Braemar Gallery, Springwood in May – organised by our very own Steve McLaren (a.k.a. Bodymechanic) – you would have witnessed some superb works of art and entertainment. Even more entertaining was the post-event hilarity at Steve’s place afterwards where all and sundry were treated to a fine exhibition on how to cook prawns on the barbie. No gas left in the bottle? No worries! Just improvise by ripping the guts out the bbq and replacing it with good old fashioned wood! Add copious amounts of kerosene and get some other sucker to light it for you. Like Brett (a.k.a. Miloman Once the old gal was fired up and running, Brett was banished to the sidelines, where an ever skeptical crowd of onlookers gathered to witness Steve’s signature dish – marinated prawns! Marco in particular was very skeptical! So here’s how it works….. Step 1 – Get the frypan to a decent heat! Step 2 – Put on your best demonic smile for the benefit of the crowd! Step 3 – Throw in the wee beasties to be cooked up! Step 4 – Apply generous quantities of heat and flame Step 5 – You’ll have to use your imagination here! Actually, the prawns were wonderful and the evening was a perfect way to wind down after the opening of the exhibition. Well done Steve for being such a top host!!

I’m sure I can speak on behalf of my colleague contributors to the G26 Braemar Exhibition when I thank Steve for the considerable amount of work he put into the G26 exhibition at Springwood. As I live locally, I went there a few times over the show and Steve was there pottering about on at least 3 occaisons when I turned up. Having seen many exhibitions at Braemar, I think (bias aside) that the G26 show was a particularly varied and vibrant event with a very high standard of work. It was excellent to get the opportunity to be involved and I would thank Steve for his work in organising, curating and physically putting together / closing the show.
