Red Bubble’s First Book /// In the Moment /// Overall Winner / I found myself in Geneva for a week for work last year. The only other time I had been to Switzerland was Zurich for 2 nights in the middle of winter, so I was kind of surprised by the beautiful (and hot!) summer weather I experienced on this visit. / The Lake at Geneva is where everyone goes to cool off and I was mesmerised watching all these crazy dudes doing amazing things off a high-dive on the edge of the lake. I took a few shots and managed to capture this moment among them. / I entered this work into the 2007 Linden Gallery Post Card Show in St.Kilda, and was absolutely stoked to have been awarded one of the six entries to be reproduced as postcards and sold through the gallery.

This was taken at Tennyson Beach, Adelaide (South Australia). The model was incredibly patient during the photo shoot with many surprised locals stopping to check out the semi naked “Sailor Boy”. I’d like to thank the model for his strength and his enthusiasm.

Zach hadn’t seen Ava in a couple of days so when she walked through the door he said ” Ava give me a kiss, I’ve missed you” I thought it was just too cute to pass up so I had my camera and just caught it right in time!!!

Wilsons Promontory – ‘The Prom’, 2008 Have managed this summer to get out there and surf a bit. Lately just me, my board and my camera down the coast, tenting it and basically taking time out for myself. After a few hours in the water you get this kind of fuzzy peaceful feeling inside, equal parts exhaustion and elation. I love that headspace of daydreaming, and find it a really inspirational state for visual ideas to come to the surface.

Photo taken late afternoon as the sun was setting… hence the sunset shadows. Here’s my boy Kane doing what he loves most!! Skateboarding is almost an obsession for him. He skates at least 4 times a week either at the local school or at the local bowl with his Daddy (his Daddy is right back into Skateboarding after 15 years). At just 4 he can already push off and confidently ride a skateboard. “Listen a hundred times; ponder a thousand times; speak once.” / - TURKISH PROVERB My son Kane had no idea I was photographing him at this time…He was just wondering sweetly along a path in a local parkland area when suddenly he stopped and leaned on the fence. I honestly could not believe what I was seeing through my viewfinder when he did it. Then when I saw the photograph it just blew me away. Kane is 3 years old in this photograph. This is my all time favourite photograph I’ve taken with my DSLR to date. Played with the colour version in photoshop and am very pleased with the outcome. My first Twin Lens Reflex camera arrived today wOOt wOOt!! A lovely little 1940’s Kodak Brownie Reflex in beautiful condition. So what did I do? I proceed to pull it apart and then wrap 100mph tape and cardboard around it to create my light blocking contraption so I could start experimenting with TtV photography!! As you do ;) Sorry Great Aunt Gladys! I didn’t break it though, just removed a little bit ;) It is waaaaay more challenging than I thought it would be, and I think I may have developed an ebaying-for-tlr-cameras addiction in the last week but the results – when you get it right – are totally worth it, so all things considered I might stick with this for a bit ;)
