Yes, they are my feet and I’m relaxing on the beach watching the kids play in the water. I gave this image some texture and it reminds me of a very lazy, Aussie summer’s day at the beach.

I know that in an artistic sense this is quite simple, however to me it has great meaning. The image is of my two boys who are also the best of friends. They have an unbreakable bond and here, they are doing something they love; just being together.

“Impact Zone” You think you’re sitting / outside the break, / When here comes a wave / you’re not going to make. / Along the horizon / a darkened blue, / must start the scramble / arms digging deep too. / It breaks before you / with a crack and a peel, / a smile on your face / life is surreal. / Waves are breaking / on top of your head, / a mountain of water / is now what you dread. / Whitewater comes, / it hits like a brick, / white and foamy, / a turbulent thick. / Waves keep on comming, / three , four, and five, / You think to yourself, / just one more duck dive. / And when you think / you that got your breath, / the ocean pushes / you down to new depths. / Waves back off / you’re stuck in the foam. / Welcome to / the / Impact Zone By: Andy Harney

Based on the beautiful song of the same name written by Mr. Tuomas Holopainen of Nightwish. Their music is a neverending source of inspiration for me. I wanted to give something back… “Born from silence, silence full of it / A perfect concert my best friend / So much to live for, so much to die for / If only my heart had a home Sing what you can`t say / Forget what you can`t play / Hasten to drown into beautiful eyes / Walk within my poetry, this dying music / - My loveletter to nobody Never sigh for better world / It`s already composed, played and told / Every thought the music I write / Everything a wish for the night Wrote for the eclipse, wrote for the virgin / Died for the beauty the one in the garden / Created a kingdom, reached for the wisdom / Failed in becoming a god Never sigh… “If you read this line, remember not the hand that wrote it / Remember only the verse, songmaker`s cry, the one without tears / For I`ve given this its strength and it has become my only strength. / Comforting home, mother`s lap, chance for immortality / Where being wanted became a thrill I never knew / The sweet piano writing down my life” “Teach me passion for I fear it`s gone / Show me love, hold the lorn / So much more I wanted to give to the ones who love me / I`m sorry / Time will tell (this bitter farewell) / I live no more to shame nor me nor you And you… I wish I didn`t feel for you anymore…” A lonely soul… An ocean soul…”

Summer fun in the crashing surf off Butlers Beach, York Peninsula. This image is ‘the’ shot that made me decide to take up photography as more than a glancing passtime. Anthony Boy’s Magical Voyage / By Joyce Dickens It was growing darker by the hour and yet the day was still very young. A storm was brewing out to sea and it was growing quite clear that Monterey Bay was no place to be. / The waves were growing taller and very wild; the smell of salt and sulphur filled the air. The clouds were strangely different today; the sky was taking on a reddish tint and bursts of lightning every now and then were a definite warning that this was no place to play and yet, Anthony Boy had a strange feeling about today; a feeling of excitement and anticipation. Anthony Boy has been on dry land, on display at the Monterey Boat Works for many years; only he and a few other retired boats from the old fishing fleet know the secret, the untold story of what really takes place when one of these “magical storms” comes to the Bay. No one really knows how it happens, but some of the older fishermen talk very secretly amongst themselves; it’s been said that if the incoming storms come from a very distant and magical place, they will bring with them some form of mystical power. This power breathes life into the old and retired fleet, one by one; though it is short-lived, it is a memory that each retired fishing boat will hold in their heart forever. Anthony Boy could feel it in the air; he was excited and felt sure that tonight it would be his turn to once again cruise across the bay, waves lapping on his deck, the salty air breathing life into him, and he standing tall in the moonlight and storm clouds, would once again be so very proud. Hours had come and gone, and Anthony Boy’s excitement was rapidly growing; he was ready. It was evening now and very dark; the storm had arrived. The sky was full of electricity, and the wind was so strong that all of the people in the area had gone to their homes; this was going to be a bad one. A huge bolt of lightning struck nearby and took out the power; things were getting blown here and there. The smell of sulphur was very strong now; this went on for hours it seemed to Anthony who was by now very impatient, when suddenly there was a stillness that he couldn’t describe. Knowing he had never felt this before, he was beginning to feel a bit unsure if he really wanted this to be “his storm” or not. He took a deep breath and remained motionless and at that very instant something happened; the framework that was supporting Anthony Boy, just flew apart, even though the wind had completely stopped. Anthony felt that he was in motion, but he was afraid to look; suddenly he felt something that he hadn’t felt for years – the cool salt water lapping around him, dancing on his bow and caressing his stern. The wind began to blow again, just enough to push Anthony proudly across the water; he was so happy, and he just beamed from head to toe as he slowly and quietly made his way to all of his favorite fishing spots. Finally, it was nearly dawn by now, and Anthony headed back to the breakwater where he was greeted by many of his old “fleet” friends who wanted to hear all the details of Anthony Boy’s Magical Voyage. It was a night made in heaven for Anthony, but it was soon over and the storm was passing; Anthony found himself back in his supporting framework and back on display at the boat works. This was a night that he would always cherish and remember. From this day on, Anthony Boy was so proud to greet all of the tourists that came from near and far to see him and his famous Monterey Bay on the California coast. The next time one of these powerful storms come to Port, it will be another retired fishing boat’s turn to once again cruise the Bay and Anthony will know the secret, and be so proud and happy that the others in the retired fleet will get their chance to make the Magical Voyage. / This image was sold here on Redbubble on September 7th, 2008 as a small Canvas Print . / ___ / All The Materials Contained May Not Be Reproduced, Copied, Edited, Published, Transmitted Or Uploaded In Any Way Without My Permission.
