  • Another aspect of bridges I like to take pictures of the bows when they have them. Alot of the older bidges seem to have unique styles to them.

  • This lil jewel of a bridge I found on my way back from Lake Pyramid the largest desert lake in the world. I walked across this bridge and felt the trampoline effect of the way they use to be.

  • This bridge takes you to and from downtown Banff in the Canadian Rockies over the Bow River. Shot from the far bank, love the colours of the gently swirling Bow River as it winds its way towards Calgary from the Rockies.

  • A solitary figure crossing the Bow Bridge in Central Park, NYC. The structure is an iconic feature of the park, stretching from Cherry Hill to the Ramble. • Canadian Rockies at Canmore with the old bridge arcing over the Bow River (Alberta).

  • The Bow Bridge in Central Park, over Central Park Lake in New York City, is one of the most photographed sites in the park. The architecture of the bridge is outstanding with its beautiful curves and embellishment. It is one of the places in the park where you can enjoy some of its breathtaking views or simply watch the rowboats below on the lake. Given that it’s a popular tourist attraction, meeting place and a lover’s spot, the bridge is never vacant. I was on a photographic “excursion” with my nephew recently. (He has shown some interest in photography – much to my delight!) I bought him a disposable digital camera and off we went into the park. I wanted to show him the bridge so we made our way there. We photographed a couple of things along the way, the ducks on the lake and then the exterior of the bridge. We went on the bridge and he was fascinated with the rowboats below. Due to the numerous people on the bridge, I was trying to figure out how to photograph this beautiful architecture without having too many people in the capture. I then noticed my nephew keeling and taking pictures through the ‘rings’ (for lack of a better word) of the bridge. I kneeled down too of course and what I saw from this angle intrigued me. I took a couple of pictures and this is the result. I want to wholeheartedly thank my sweet nephew for such a wonderful inspiration for this different outlook. Just when you think you can teach a child, they in turn teach you. Camera: Pentax K200D / Exposure Program: Manual / Exposure Time: 1/50 sec / ISO Speed: 100 / F-Stop: f/5.00 / No Flash
