Exactly the way it looks…it was a busy shopping day and I peeped into the PRADA store in Soho, NYC and captured this one. :) Sold 1 matted print to a RedBubbler.
Just because I quite like the graphic and yes I am using alot of rainbow overlays at the moment, this took me aaaaages to sort, If only it wasnt coloured to begin with! If you want this in some other colour specifically then just bubblemail me, or if you want it customised in some way! Yeah I would love to get this printed in metallic ink but I cant find a company that would, rather annoying I know!
Two mannequins lay discarded in the window of a boutique in an abandoned mental asylum, one with a worrying hole through its chest!
A store window at night in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
I was a young fashion photographer’s assistant who had also photographed racehorses trained by my father. ITV heard the story and wanted to interview me with pictures of girls and horses. In this picture shot for Biba’s, a world famous boutique in Kensington High Street in the 60’s, I decided to combine them both. I borrowed the 20mm lens and the 250 exposure back from my boss, John Cowan, whose studio was used in the 1966 cult film Blow-Up and set off for Sussex. The 20mm lens had only just been introduced and was the first of it’s kind. Finished off in Photoshop and hdr in Photomatix with one original jpeg image, duplicated and lightened and darkened to create three images. HDR processed in Photomatix at e.v. spacing 2. A tiny bit of local history for Ellicott City, from Wikipedia … In 1772, three Quaker brothers from Bucks County, Pennsylvania, chose the picturesque wilderness, upriver from Elk Ridge Landing (known today as Elkridge, Maryland) to establish a flour mill. John, Andrew, and Joseph Ellicott founded Ellicott’s Mills, which became one of the largest milling and manufacturing towns in the East. In 1867, a city charter was secured for Ellicott’s Mills, and the name was changed to “Ellicott City”. It was designated an historic district in 1973 and today serves as the county seat for Howard County, Maryland. Companion piece to: A Seat In The Shade

France – Strasbourg Middle of the city streets.
One evening few years ago I was walking at the Kings Cross suburb of Sydney. It was already dark, but a high-rise building above me did not have a single light in any of its 350 rooms. It was a somewhat scary to stand by this huge abandoned giant in a centre of the city. The sign on the top read “Millennium Hotel”. My mind started to picture apocalyptic stories about what might have happened to it in few years past the new millennium. I didn’t know that time that it was closed for the complete renovation. And here we go, $98m and few years later building is transformed into modern 37-storey Zenith Apartments tower. What a stunning view over the city it must be from its roof top. P.S. The Coca Cola Billboard is a character itself being the heritage-listed and largest billboard in the Southern Hemisphere. This is a vertical panorama or a vertorama as it is called sometimes. I took 2 sets of 3 AEB shots from a tripod (one centering on the Coke sign and another one for the top of the building). Those were later combined into a single HDR (4129×4720) and then tonemapped. MUCH BETTER VIEWED LARGE A boutique shopping street in Perth, Western Australia before the retail therapy begins on a saturday morning. The sun was shining and I had slow film and a fast lens!. taken with my Leica MP, 50mm noctilux lens, 1/1000 sec and about f4. Velvia 50 film. Ken Rockwell’s review of the new Velvia 50 compares it very favourably to the original and it’s his film of choice.
